Hello Forum Friends
I am a retired person and live with Arthritis. I must live where it is HOT and DRY. I love a very hot climate, between 80 and 120 is best. Yuma looks good.
I lived in Scottsdale AZ from 1980 - 2000, then Jerome AZ from 2000- 2006.
Now in NM but it's too cold! Ouch!! I'm a tough old coot and not affraid of the bad guys. Don't have anything to loose anyway. What are the mellow 'hoods in the Yuma metro? Just looking for a small apartment but not lots of kids. Or maybe MH but I don't drive, so close to the stores.
Clue me in please. This forum is a real kick, I'm enjoying it.

I can't recommend Yuma to most people as I find it a hellhole, nothing more than a food and gas stop between San Diego and Phoenix. If you're familiar with the heat and you need it to help with arthritis, I guess Yuma would suffice. It is hotter than Phoenix and gets half the rain. It's also 3 hours closer to the coast if you want to cool off. Yuma spreads across the desert in patches as if the city landed in a splatter on the landscape. Between the populated areas are empty areas, industrial areas, farming areas. I guess the best part is in the far eastern portion of the town, maybe its called Yuma Foothills. Frankly, it's not the kind of place I would want to settle in unless I had no reason to live. I just can't say anything positive about it. I don't find it physically or geographically attractive in the least, the population consists of many illegals, the taxes are high, unemployment is never under 10%. You could do much better elsewhere in the desert. If you move here, you will spend all of your time indoors or in your car as there truly is nothing to do for miles around. I have not lived there, so my opinion is from multiple visits, some lasting 2 hours or so. But each time I visit, I try to stay as little as possible because, frankly, it just doesn't feel good at all to be there. And I love the desert!
