We are thinking about relocating to Clarkdale, AZ. Can anyone tell us the best and the worst points about the area? Real estate? Quality of the local hospital? Illegal immigration problems?

Thanks!

Never lived there, been through a few times. Seems like a nice town with character and history. I really like the whole Verde Valley area. And you're not far from Sedona or Prescott.
Here are some links, hope they are helpful:

I live nearby in Sedona. Clarkdale is a great little place with access to the shopping (not the best shopping in the world mind you) and hospital in Cottonwood (which seems to have a good rep.). It's close to Jerome, a historic mining town and as the other poster mentioned convenient to Sedona, Camp Verde and Prescott.I would check it out first, especially if you are coming from a big place. Movies are mostly in Prescott or Sedona, they have only 1 movie showing in Cottonwood (which I still find hard to believe).

PS I can't see you having any problems with illegals, up here they don't bother anyone. Heck, with the new bill, they are probably all leaving town!

I hope you find a fantastic home there. We need a place stay in the Winter when Montana freezes over. .

The nice thing about Clarkdale is the variety of real estate. There are the older historical homes in Clarkdale proper...both upper and lower. Upper Clarkdale is THE most historical though. There are newer subdivisions and some really nice 55+ mobile home communities. It just depends on what your preferences are.

The hospital is very good and we have just about every type of medical care you could want. Many specialists, etc..

We do have a Hispanic presence in the Valley but many of them are descendants of people who came here a century ago to work the mines in Jerome and the smelters in the Valley. I don't think we have a particularly 'bad' Illegal problem here but have to admit that my own neighborhood has become very quiet over the last couple of months. So who knows?
