What is normal after your child dies - Conclusion

Posted 09-09-2008 at 09:59 AM by londonbarcelona (What's it really like to have a child die???)

Normal is wondering this time whether you are going to say you have two children or one child, because you will never see this person again and it is not worth explaining that Taylor is dead.
And yet when you say you have one child to avoid that problem, you feel horrible as if you have betrayed the dead child.

Normal is asking G-d why he took your child's life instead of yours and asking if there even is a G-d. ...

Feeling down

Posted 09-09-2008 at 07:10 AM by doglover29 (A city gal's musings)

I've been feeling kind of down for the past few days. Part of it is that for some reason I've been feeling unusually lonely--maybe it's because it rained all weekend from Hurricane Hanna, and so we stayed in, and I felt cooped up all weekend. And then hubby worked all day Sunday, when it was really nice out, and I just went out to sightsee alone, and just felt incredibly alone all day. As I walked around, it seemed like everyone I saw was with someone else--talking and laughing, except me....

The Call To Maine

People call me to Maine; urge me to come home, to come back. Ghostly voices call me home to Maine.

In those moments between sleep and awake, I hear the voice of my grandmother; she has to walk up to Morrill's Corner, she says she has a list of sundries to pick up; I hear her talking to the downstairs tenant, "I'm going out; Is there anything you need?"

Or I hear Great Aunt Cordelia; after all these years, I hear her still lamenting...

The end of the summer

Posted 09-07-2008 at 09:40 PM by doglover29 (A city gal's musings)

Last weekend marked the end of the summer. We had a nice summer. My hubby and I took a couple of trips, including a week in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, which was great! We did some sightseeing around DC and spent a lot of time outside. The summer wasn't too hot--I remember the past two DC summers being hotter. September and October are my two favorite months. I love fall, the crisp, cooler air, and the fall colors.

Lately I've been feeling quite lonely. Hubby has been working...

Most Accidents Happen After A Hurricane:

Posted 09-07-2008 at 04:26 PM by Drouzin

“Dig a hole, fill it with cement, and put one of those eye bolts in it so we can chain down the generator,” he says. So I go to the store get the eye bolt, cute little concrete form, and a 50 lb. bag of cement. During commercial breaks for the Saints game, (Go Saints!), I dig the stupid hole next to the patio slab. Saints win, (YEA), and I finish digging and stand up to go get the cement.

For some unexplainable reason I forget that there is a two foot deep hole...
