I live in Phoenix and just found out our HOA dues are being raised to over $400 per month. We (the HOA) have a surplus of $325,000 for an emergency and still the fees are being raised.

In addition to that, the woman who runs the HOA is out of control constantly fining other owners and bad mouthing people.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle this situation?

I am on Whidbey Island and it is nice enough, but there is nothing going on of interest to me and I need to find a job.

So I am looking at Whatcom co., Snohomish, co., and possibly Pierce co.

I do art and my fieance plays guitar and bass professionally so we need quite a big house for under $230,000.

It is different for me not to have a definate place to move. We will see. First have to sell my house on Whidbey Island, and in this economy it won't happen...
