Hi everyone,

Sorry I have not posted anything for a while but I have been somewhat busy with various things that have occupied my time (such as watching some Battlestar Galactica episodes through my laptop and getting into some very interesting though somewhat intense discussions on the Christian sub-forum here).

But..I thought I would post some pictures of me that might give my esteemed readers a more personal view of who I am as they continue to follow my daily adventures....

The Dump

Posted 02-05-2009 at 08:55 PM by DezertGirl (The True Story of DezertGirl's Escape from California)

Most Americans enjoy garbage pick-up. They load the cans and put them on the curb as they go off to work. Not us.
You see, we live in a rural community. There is no garbage pick-up by a refuse service. We have what is called a "transfer station". And we load up our rubbish and take it there. There are bins for metal, large items, brush & branches and dumpsters for household trash. And of course the recyclables bin.
Going to our dump usually ends up being a social event....

Indeed, I want to spend a little time with you about something that I haven't exactly counted as a hobby of sorts, but just an item that adds to the ambience of living in an apartment or house. In virtually every room in my abode, I have a clock in each one. Different kinds of clocks abound in the House of Case. You might...

Singing Songs While Putting Up The Flag At Work

Posted 02-05-2009 at 02:45 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Recently, I was appointed by my dispatch manager (pushed into it?) to be the new guy who puts up the flags first thing in the morning. And so, I have taken that challenge on, but after a few days, it's really no challenge. It is, however, a patriot's proud duty and I heartily accept. But something has come over me as I put flags up each day, and especially this morning. I was singing two different songs as I was raising the flags by winding the pulleys. One was "Up,...
