New to area, want advice on where to buy a home

Posted 07-11-2009 at 03:26 PM by Graphic Artist 2008

Hey everyone. I just moved to Omaha after college and I have a job downtown and want to buy a house. I can't miss the 8000 credit. The agency I work for is small, so there's not a lot of opportunity to meet people/talk to people about Omaha. Any thoughts on where I should buy a home would really be appreciated! I don't honestly know the city that well yet, but I would like some character in the area I live.

Mid July

Posted 07-11-2009 at 11:19 AM by Chowhound

Well Peeps its mid July and summer hasn't seemed to fully kick in yet. Strange, as this has been the coolest summer that I can remember, at least temp wise.

I know when its hot, cause my poor kitty seems to melt then.

Maine Forum Safety Net

Posted 07-11-2009 at 03:46 AM by GrammieLinda (Rambling Neuron Synapses)

I started the thread, "Caring for Elderly Parents" a few days ago and truly wanted it to be in the Maine forum because, although many of the experiences of caring for an older relative are common no matter where one lives, there are, perhaps, more that relate specifically to the state in which one lives. Also, I had already come to respect many of the posters in that forum and felt that I'd get helpful replies. I was not in any way disappointed.

Thank you, all who posted....

My wish

Posted 07-10-2009 at 06:23 PM by maybenow

I have always wanted to live in Alaska, even if for a short time. I would love to live in a cabin in the dead of winter. Teach me what I need to know, what I have to wear, ect. Life is short,I want to try different things, meet people, live in all sorts of conditions. Maybe Alaska is the spark I need in my life.
