Celebrating National Hot Chocolate Day In, Perhaps, The Most Appropriate Way

Posted 01-31-2023 at 06:35 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Here's a blueprint for what I'm revealing here: It's colder than usual outside, there is freezing rain, and your writer has to miss work because of the ensuing conditions. And, no, I don't work remote, but that's not important now.

I just heard on Phlash Phelps' radio show that today is National Hot Chocolate Day in America. How apropos. There's no choice but to stay inside this warm abode. Rather than get my Shark hit by another car or for me to slide uncontrollably...

Nowhere else to turn, and this is how it is.

Posted 01-28-2023 at 08:16 AM by LookinForMayberry

A few months ago, my sister Donna was forced to give up her job as General Mgr of a restaurant in northern FL because of health concerns. She is a single woman without means other than her work. It's just her and her corgi, Molly.

She went on part-time, but lost her health insurance benefits. The medical bills quickly consumed her reserves. I know, it's a common story. Though I didn't know it, she was also having problems with her thinking, losing gaps of time. I learned this recently...
