Mortgage rates improved a few basis points yesterday as benchmark treasury yields fell and mortgage backed securities prices rose. The lone economic report yesterday, jobless claims, came in close to expectations but the auction of 7 year Treasury notes saw very good demand which contributed to the price gains. The strong results allowed MBS to continue to climb through close. Many lenders did reprice for the better lowering consumer borrowing costs.
