Mortgage Rates Tread Lower Following Jobless Claims

Before we get to today’s data, a quick recap of yesterday. Mortgage rates started the day heading in the right direction as stocks started the day in negative terroritory. As the day progressed, stocks started to gain which pulled money away from the fixed income sector. Benchmark treasuries were pressured higher which caused mortgage backed securities to move lower in price. As MBS price fell, a couple lenders who issued rate sheets early, had to reprice worse increasing consumer borrowing costs....

Its been a couple of fun filled days since I last posted...

My Son and I drove to Kent State University (Actually, the City of Kent, but thats an easy reference point). Every time I drove up or back, he would always fall asleep! So, I made him drive up a week early so that I was SURE he wouldnt do the same thing and, like I told him, if you get tired, pull into a rest stop on the way up or back, BUT, YOUR STILL DRIVING THE REST OF THE WAY!!! (Cant expect Dad to be there to bail...

An Update

Yesterday and today were a complete waste. After not sleeping much Monday night, I spent the majority of Tuesday in an exhausted haze. Plus, the dog hadn't improved, so after taking care of a couple of things, I brought her back to the vet, for 3 hours. A different vet saw her and noticed that she wheezed while breathing. How the other vet missed this, I don't know. So, she ordered chest x-rays, which scared the **** out of my dog (literally and figuratively). We only got one x-ray, and the...

Mortgage Rates Continue to Bounce in a Tight Range

Mortgage rates started the day yesterday holding steady near the best levels of 2010 despite the stock market opening much higher. Usually, when stocks move higher, the fixed income sector moves lower as market participants reallocate money from low risk, low yield bonds into higher risk, higher yielding stocks. As the day progressed and stocks continued to rally, mortgage backed securities could not hold off the pressure and they finally started to move lower right around the lunch hour. MBS prices...
