Tensions and The World, Large and Small

Yesterday I received a verbal lashing from a coworker that came as a complete surprise, and (I felt) completely unfounded. He was so vehement in his accusations that my inner voice kept wondering "What is causing this spin-out?" He attributed it to me saying things I never said, and he was very hurtful.

I kept reminding myself that this wasn't about me, but his inner turmoils. It bought me a sense of compassion -- oddly enough, and only at one time did I speak out, asking...

Mortgage Rates Hold Steady on Data Free Day

We had a pretty quiet day in the rates markets yesterday. Mortgage backed securities traded in a fairly tight range all day but went out at the price highs. Most of the price gains came late afternoon, so no lender repriced better leaving rate sheets unchanged on the day.

There are no scheduled economic data releases on the day.

At 1pm, the Department of Treasury will release the results of the first of three treasury auctions to be held this week. Today, they are...

The Week Ahead for Mortgage Rates

Last week ended on a positive note for mortgage rate watchers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday morning that our economy added much fewer jobs than expected in December. The weaker than expected economic data caused money to flow into the bond market. All lenders repriced for the better with most repricing better twice. At the open this morning, mortgage backed securities are holding onto all the price gains which should allow lenders to pass along similar loan pricing as Friday....
