Sunday School - April 24, 2011

Posted 04-24-2011 at 02:26 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Affirmation: I remember that when Jesus arose, I arose. When He came out of hell and defeated the enemy, I came out of hell and defeated the enemy. His victory is my victory because I am in Him.

The degree to which I will abide in Him will be determined by the degree to which I behold the power of His resurrection. - Chuck Pierce

Only he who allows himself to be found in Jesus Christ, in His incarnation, His cross, and His resurrection, is with God and God with him....

Fire-Ravaged Areas Getting Much-Needed Rain

Posted 04-23-2011 at 07:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As I'm writing this, some intense lightning and thunder are looming in my neighborhood right now. Approaching thunderstorms are developing in my area and many points west of it. Even though spring means thunderstorms, this is one of those times where some people can actually do without thunder and the accompanying lightning.

I'm thinking about places like Wichita Falls and Possum Kingdom in North Texas. Those places lost a number of homes due to wildfires caused by...

A little about me....

My belief system follows Jesus Christ.

I enjoy hiking, riding my bike, running, playing tennis, throwing around a frisbee, and going to the movies. I enjoy all things suburban such as tree lined neighborhoods, bbqs, parks, hills covered in homes, malls, large churches, and diversity.

I have lived the majority of my life in a rural community, but my parents and I are now in a suburban coastal town. It's way better!

I plan on becoming a drug and alcohol counselor...

A Case-Owned Steakhouse? Idea Number Two: Fine Dining

Posted 04-23-2011 at 10:47 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sorry it took so long. I've been promising this piece for a while and had other things go on, but it's what you've all been waiting for. So, now, here it is.

If I were to own a steakhouse, be it in the form of an umbrella of different restaurants or just one place, I've often envisioned what a fine dining establishment of my desire might look like. Previously, I've shared the informal, the one where the whole family can go for great Texas food. It's...

Doctor My Eyes ... Cannot See the Sky

Posted 04-23-2011 at 09:34 AM by LookinForMayberry

Jackson Browne's lyrics hit the charts in '72, my sophomore year in high school, when the world took on new meanings in my life -- as they do all young at that age.

I've lost that fresh perspective, and as it started to slip away, the lyrics took on even greater meanings, broader and deeper. Truly, I have to wonder, as others have "woken from their dreams" of a better world, "is it too late for me"?

Because I still want a better world for all of us,...
