Finally grown up

Posted 09-17-2011 at 11:39 PM by Chowhound

I'm an immature assh&le at times. I avoid painful situations......

Mrs. Chow's brother is having many many medical problems. His son, our nephew is turning out to be a real stand up kid, he's in college and he has been handling his dads medical issues pretty well. Much better than I would have at his age. I don't know if this is a generation thing or he just has something in him....

I, for once actually felt at ease giving advice and being "there"..........

God Does Answer Prayers

Posted 09-17-2011 at 08:29 PM by spiritwomyn

And then a week ago a real miracle accord, a wonderful couple from Butte, drove down with a van full of children to surprise and bless us with a travel trailer, 8X16. God can only give to us by working through us, and He looks far and wide for those open doors. I am typing this sitting at my table. Albeit, the trailer is just about the size...

It's Not A Drought-Buster, But We'll Take It

Posted 09-17-2011 at 08:58 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It goes without saying that Texas needs rain. Lots of rain. I mean, lots and lots and lots..........well, you get the idea. So, what happens on a Friday when I wanted to go to a high school football game? No sign of sunshine, partner. Just some low-lying rain clouds and moderate rain and ................lightning!

Well, that's the breaks when you want to have some Friday night fun. I decided to turn around and go back from Frisco to the...

Scattershooting Again / Astros Are Setting A New Record

Posted 09-17-2011 at 08:48 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 09-17-2011 at 10:46 AM by case44

Here we go once more with a little scattershooting as I continue my weekend. But whichever time you do read this, hopefully, you'll just enjoy the tasty tidbits which are part of life in general. So, let us proceed with this, shall we?

********

The Houston Astros are my baseball team of choice. They've been a successful franchise for fifty years, although not quite to the same degree as the New York Yankees. It's also the more successful of...

My Own Thoughts

Posted 09-16-2011 at 02:17 PM by country pride

Wow I guess that ever-famous saying IS correct. The more people in a town/city, the higher the crime rates are going to be. I just researched the town I live in, population around 3000, and did some comparing to other cities, assorted, in assorted states, our 5 car thefts per year (which I thought was high) couldnt compare to the hundreds, even thousands, in some areas! Murders? I wont go there, no comparison. Burglaries? Whats a burglary? But shoplifters, well, again the stats I read and thought...
