Losing my father was like losing my world. It happened so long ago but I see it like yesterday. A week before I lost him he asked me if I thought he was going to make it and for the first time ever, I lied to my father.

"Yes, Daddy. You're gonna be just fine."

Since that cold February day in 1995 I have grieved my over my father. With him, I lost a big part of myself. It is a daily struggle trying...

Remember When Sound of Music

Posted 12-02-2011 at 01:48 PM by Yokie (Remember When)
Updated 12-02-2011 at 02:14 PM by Yokie (To add more words and fix a typo.)

I remember when the Sound of Music had its first showing in our town. My husband and I went to a drive-in to see it. Drive-ins were very popular back then. A huge screen filled one end of the parking lot, and the parking lot was divided into sections and aisles. Each section contained posts with speakers. Posted 12-01-2011 at 08:00 AM by Pikantari

I am looking out the windows now and the sky is bright and blue, just the smallest bit of movement in the trees. Hardly any of the fall colors remain and soon enough I will see nothing but the contrast of the darkness of the trees laying against the blue of the sky. Some puffy white clouds would surely enhance the picture.

I made it through Thanksgiving with my family without a tear shed by myself. It was certainly getting to be that time, I am quite sure. The pictures were coming...

Merry Christmas

Posted 12-01-2011 at 06:46 AM by snowduck

With the approach of Christmas we will probably be hearing from Christians who like to tell us that it's displeasing to God for us to celebrate Christmas for one reason or another. These people may have good intentions, but they remind me of what the Apostle Paul wrote about some of the Israelites of his day in Romans 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. The Bible makes it clear that we are free to celebrate Christmas (or any other day,) or...
