Posted 06-22-2012 at 05:35 PM by reed067

Posted 06-22-2012 at 03:05 PM by Pikantari

I could only laugh as I put the almond slivers on his cake..... it kept me from crying. Today is his birthday and it is the first of his birthdays that I will have spent with him.

I have come a long way in this life, I am happy to say, and I suppose this will be the first of many messy cakes between the two of...

We feel more at home with our own bodies and minds and more at home in the world. As our kindness for ourselves grows, so does our kindness for other people."

It is a fairly common thing for my friends (who are members of a very small group) to tell me that...

Posted 06-21-2012 at 08:40 PM by Happy in Wyoming

The title of the post says "little books", that is, books that could be reasonably expected to fit in a pocket. But they're not really little; one is over eight hundred pages; it's titled Pocket Ref.

These have the same publisher and the same group of authors; I'm surprised so few people are aware of them.

Do you need to know how to give CPR to your dog or cat?

Do you need to find the right drill size for a particular screw?

What...

Understanding the value of living in an area of uniformly desirable schools

Posted 06-21-2012 at 02:25 PM by chet everett

Western Springs is in Cook Co. It has uniformly desirable schools / neighborhoods, which should come as no surprise as you can probably pick a costly half gallon of delicous milk in a heavy glass bottle from the Oberweiss shop across from the RR depot AND LUG IT BACK HOME from any spot in town in about 30 minutes. It is extremely compact. Neighboring Hinsdale lies partially within Cook Co, but largely inside DuPage Co. It is the rare town where every single one of its elementary schools and middle...
