HISD- Kiddos w/ Autism- 6th grade

Posted 04-22-2013 at 02:36 PM by daddyworkhorse19

[SIZE=3]I came into work this afternoon and turned on the computer. The first thing I did was go straight to Google...for what...? It feels like it was only a few years ago when my wife and I were looking for an elementary school for him. In back of my mind I let that sleeping giant sleep in hopes that the world and HISD would catch up with my son's challenging world. To this date I have been told that...

Why hasn't the West End gentrified yet?

What were teens like in the 70's versus Today?

Posted 04-21-2013 at 10:32 AM by Lorelilly

I'm curious as to what daily life was like during this time period (roughly 1975-1984). Reading through various threads on this forum and hearing stories from relatives, I have this general image in my head, i.e., clunkier cars, lots of smoking, children always playing outside, going out to dinner was a rare treat, colorful appliances and interior decorating, etc. I knew smoking was allowed in restaurants (heck, the ban is relatively recent), but I was surprised to read that people also smoked in...

If it is Okay for One...

Posted 04-21-2013 at 10:11 AM by LookinForMayberry

All my life people have confused me. I noticed early on that those that loved me hated others, and that taught me to make sure I stayed on their "good" side. Trouble is that in managing to stay on their good sides, it was easy to get on someone else's "bad" side. Then, worse, I began to understand that within my group of loving family and friends -- not all of them were on each other's good side, and a wrong step could jeopardize the whole balance. My sister used to tell me this any time she thought I was trying to tell her what to do. Since I was a pretty bossy older sister (I come by my bossy-ness naturally), I heard it a lot.

Coincidentally she was correct. I wasn't and am not. Indeed, no one is the boss of us except us.
It's called "Personal Responsibility."

That includes our reactions to others. How many times have I said, or heard others say: "She makes me so mad!"? Or, "You...
