Why talk about Cities? They are so impersonal!

Posted 06-18-2013 at 09:18 AM by Fortoggie

We get our identities from our towns. If I tell you that I live in Chicago, you will raise your eyebrow and wonder which part of the city I live in. Do I live in a high rise on Lake Shore Drive? That makes a statement! On the other hand if you learn that I live down on the south side, you might well draw a different opinion.
Cities help us identify other people. We can tell who the poor are and we can spot the middle class. In addition we can easily tell who the rich are and where they live....

The link to it is at the end on this opening post. This should be useful to a great number of people relocating or thinking of relocating (or already living here in SoFL) to somewhere within Broward.

in need of furniture

Posted 06-17-2013 at 08:55 PM by fsilva

Can anyone living in the Fairfield Glade area in TN tell me what is the best place to buy quality furniture at a reasonable price. I will be moving into the area from out of state into a new home and will have to buy mostly everything to furnish the house. Any direction of where to go, would be very helpful. Thank you.

Georgia Bottoms Heats up Six Points, Alabama

Posted 06-17-2013 at 03:43 PM by Fortoggie

Six Points, Alabama was hot enough from just the summer sun but 34 year old Georgia Bottoms turned the heat up a few more notches.
Have you noticed a lot of novels are set in towns?Six Points is so out of date and dull looking that you wouldn't even stop there for a hamburger until you learn about Georgia.
Like so many southern women she is forced to make it in a podunk town. For four years she is able to accommodate, six men, one each night, and still have Monday night off for herself....

Photography Advice

Posted 06-17-2013 at 01:02 PM by Joe the Photog

I hope I'm not one of those guys who make comments like, Everyone is a photographer now. Or someone who sarcastically comments that if you have a DSLR, sure, you''re a pro. Because I look back on how I started in photography and realize that in some ways the only difference between me and the newbies is that when I started, I had to load film in the back of my camera.

I became serious about my photography in 1999 when I bought a Canon Rebel. Before that, I used an old 110 camera...
