at work

Posted 03-22-2014 at 03:25 PM by nooshb

I am at work and quiet tired because I did not sleep well last night and it is such a drag having to work a 10 hour shift feeling tired.

Updated 03-25-2014 at 05:00 PM by Blondebaerde

This post is curmudgeonly. I am curmudgeonly in many of my views. My mom sometimes called me a curmudgeon when i was in my early 20s, yet another example of her keen insight into the human spirit (she was most-definitely not a curmudgeon: more of a free-spirit, reluctantly caged by society's mores of the day).

I am reminded of the above while searching for latest by my favorite non-fiction author, Charles Murray. Murray is definitely a curmudgeon, by his own admission. Not hard...

It is a beautiful day, the sun is out, sky is clear, a wee bit of a breeze and today is also the day my Parents got married in 1959; thank goodness their marriage did not last at all. They have been divorced since 1971 which means they were married much too long and he died 12 years ago which means he lived much too long. That is another story in and of itself that no one really wants to read about. So, moving on....

I have not felt well the last two days but today I feel much better...

On Genes and Upbringing

Posted 03-21-2014 at 10:19 AM by Fortoggie

In Howard K. Smith's biography he spoke about the memory of his dad as he grew up in the 1920's. "My father, he says, was simply not equipped by genes or upbringing to bear responsibilities." Smith understood that millions of men were having a hard time meeting their responsibilities in the 20's but his dad just choose to opt out of that perennial burden. I have met many people in my life time who are not equipped by genes or upbringing to cope with the responsibilities of life. Then I...

Where to live in Dallas?

Posted 03-21-2014 at 08:11 AM by youngdentalhygienist

I'm a single African American mom to a 5 yr old. I'm looking to move to an area in Dallas that is diverse. I lived in Irving for a yr before moving back to my hometown. I didn't like Irving it was not diverse enough in my opinion. I have posted a blog before and am hoping for a better response. I'm a registered dental hygienist so finding a job will not be that difficult. I just need to know what area to look in. I'm looking for a good elementary school and a safe area. I want to be around 25-30...
