Water worth visiting?

Posted 08-11-2014 at 03:03 PM by carroll4628

I'm sending you a PM, because native Texans seem to be "touchy" about their Lakes - they think they're just fine and that the beach in Galveston is worth going to.

We've driven through OK and the northeast corner "might" be an option. We're going to Hot Springs AR for Labor Day to see how the lakes are in that area. You might find something down near Austin (we haven't been yet), and there are rivers to float, but I'm not sure if they are in drought conditions...

It takes patience to know the truth

Posted 08-11-2014 at 02:36 PM by Fortoggie

THE TRUTH: Last week two people whom I have known for years, blurted out, I just can't stand people who lie. Yet these same people have favorite actors that they try to see when they are appearing in a movie and they follow novelists who tell lies for a living. It must be that these folks have never thought through all the subtleties of truth. There is the partial truth because there isn't time or need to tell the whole truth. There are times when it is none of your business truth; this is often...

Grilled Cheese, Gourmet-Style --- In Frisco, We'll Try Anything

Posted 08-10-2014 at 04:44 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Imagine an eatery where you get wide varieties......

.....of a grilled cheese sandwich. Believe it. Such is possible.

The name of the place is CheeZies, to be located in Frisco, Texas. It's going in on Preston Road where Memphis Catfish used to be, just south of Wade Boulevard. I really can't wait to see what kind of menu they'd have. Wonder if they'll all contain grilled cheese, you think? An even bigger question is this:...

I-69 Update: Closing The Gap Further Between Corpus And Kingsville

Posted 08-10-2014 at 04:22 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Finally, some new news on Interstate 69. More of the little bitty things are being done to upgrade U.S. Highway 77 to I-69E. Significant progress is in the process and will bear fruit between Corpus Christi and Kingsville in South Texas. Sections of at-grade, divided highway will be incrementally transformed to interstate standards in the years ahead. Goodbye crossovers and hello ramps and grade separations.

Academy of Natural Sciences's Bug Fest: Beauty and the Bug 2014

Posted 08-10-2014 at 02:42 PM by jessxwrites89

The train ride from Norristown to Center City Philadelphia on Norristown/Manayunk Regional Rail Line was scenic and peaceful. As soon as my Independence Day Pass (SEPTA) was shown, I put on my iPod and sent a text message to Louis letting him know I was on my way; I should arrive at the Academy of Natural Sciences at 10:15am, or so I thought the schedule indicated that specific time. I took Wesley out and took a picture of us on the train.

It was 9am and I was tired, but as I listened...
