The Michigan Accent

I lived in Michigan for the first 35 years of my life. Ten years ago, I moved to Canada. I didn't realize that Michiganians have an accent until shortly before I moved. My wife and her brother were raised in Cambridge, Ontario. According to them, Michiganians pronounce words with "o" in the middle like an "a". Narrow streets are definitely better for bikers and pedestrians as well. I also think they add a better feel to a city than tge wide roads you see much more outside of the Northeast.
