The Madhab cannot be 'religion' as in the English definition of 'religion'.. No Way.

I'll expound the issue as follows;

[/INDENT]How can we reconcile 1 and 2 above.

I believe the concept of 'Deen' [as what is actually mean to be in reality] is wrongly conceptualized...

I don't prefer the term 'Atheism' but rather I am 'not-a-theist'. As a convenience I'll go along with 'atheism' herewith.

Atheism is not an ideology per se.
Different 'Atheists' will adopt various claims of way-of-life, e.g. communism, Nazism, fascism, veganism, Stalinism, etc.

Note etymologically, 'Atheist' is made up of (A)+(theist).
The ([COLOR=red]A[/COLOR]) meant 'absence of' 'negative' 'nothing' or 'not-a'
Etymologically we can have [COLOR=red]A[/COLOR]communist...

I believe the definition of 'Islam' can only be defined as based on the above central formulation and nothing else.

If 'islam' is defined as a verb, i.e. islam-v [note small "i"], this definition is from the Quran within the above formulation.
Islam as a verb, i.e. islam-v cannot stand by itself without its source of the whole of the formulation, i.e.
[B]Quran <-Muhammad <-Gabriel <-Allah.[/B]...
