Moving to NJ-Montclair feedback wanted

We are looking into moving to NJ (NYC too expensive) as was suggested by a friend (thinking of Montclair,) from Missouri and we would love to get feedback from people in that region. We are a family of three ( child is 3; we are 33) without any debt and with a salary of 150K - 180K. At first, we are looking to rent and explore our options before settling for good in that region. We do understand that taxes are high and the costs of living are astronomical~relative to the Midwest. We value...

So if any bodies read this, they know my situation hasn't been the best. I am working now and I was asked how much for this project. I'm used to making 80k a year.

However, this is for a good cause and I basically took 20 an hour below market value.

Dumb or giving back? I did pray a lot on the decision first
