It is your calling in Christ to both go higher and go lower. You are called to ascend into the heavenly places and be seated with Him there, and at the same time descend to the earth with the evidence of heaven's reality.

To maintain this friendship and faithfulness to the Bridegroom we have to live the ascended life -- living from Heaven -- dwelling in the sense of His presence and living from there in our Christ calling, as we bear fruit that remains for His Kingdom, by dying to our self-life as we give it up for the advancement of the spiritual lives of others.

Exodus 16:4 -- "Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law or no."

God took a little insignificant matter, the food they ate -- and used it to see if they would listen to Him or not. He told them how much of it to gather, when to gather and when not to, and what to do with it after they brought it in.
