The Cricket Kid

Posted 03-12-2017 at 04:48 PM by aliasfinn

Suddenly, the sound of a cricket chirping was heard. I looked around the floor but didn't see anything, then noticed the guy sitting across from me was looking at me and grinning. He was making that noise but you couldn't tell because his mouth was closed and he was just vibrating his lips, and the sound didn't seem to come from...

The host is rushing 'twixt day and night,
And where is there hope or deed as fair?
Caoilte tossing his burning hair,
And Niamh calling Away, come away

So, Right Now, We'll Just Look At The Buildings

Suppose they built a school and nobody came?

Well, now, I won't go quite that far, but it'd be a funny scenario. As I have previously shared a time or two on Case's Column, the Frisco (Texas) Independent School District had to do something to ease the financial situation and keep costs at a minimum while still trying to operate without making drastic cuts. Four schools (two elementary, one middle school, and one high school) currently under construction will not...

Daily meditations and affirmations - 182

Posted 03-12-2017 at 10:33 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Genesis 28:12 - "And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it."

The word translated "angel" in the text is the Hebrew word "Mal'ak" (mal-awk'), which means to despatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically, of God, ie. an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher).
The point is the messengers that are to ascend and...

The Mists Of Time: Airchecks From The Old KBOX

Posted 03-11-2017 at 06:57 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I couldn't help it, but you'll be amazed what you can find on YouTube. Radio deejay airchecks from years past are all over. Different deejays, different markets.

So, here's a compilation of airchecks from 1960 Dallas radio. The below clip which I've selected is from KBOX-AM (1480). My reflections on this blog were previously about its days as a country music station (primarily in the 1970s), but what I'm presenting here is from the station's pop music days. ...
