Met my Grandmother for the first time. Visited my birth father's memorial for the first time. Saw whales. Participated in a Native American ceremony to the Four Directions. Spent time with friends and family.

So, I wanted to just share my story as a person who went through their first hurricane as a Florida resident... I have been here through other "threats"... and tend to follow the vibe of my husband, who went through Hurricane Charley, and lived to tell me about it. But this crazy storm of a size that no one had ever seen before, made me nervous. The images that were coming across the TV of the spanking Irma was delivering to the Caribbean were horrifying.

The real celebrating wouldn't have happened anyway where yesterday was concerned. The Houston Astros, after all, did their part in an afternoon game with an 8-6 win over the Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park. All they needed was a Los Angeles Angels loss to the Texas Rangers. It should be noted that the bad thing about the timing of the two games would not lend itself to a proper Houston celebration.
