Back to School in Okaloosa County

Posted 08-14-2018 at 10:28 AM by Bayouliving

First week back in school and I know many parents and students are rushing around getting supplies and paperwork signed and returned to the schools. It's such a busy time for families but such an exciting time. Both of my boys were educated here in Okaloosa County and we are so lucky to have great schools and we are surrounded by some very caring educators.

I've loved seeing all the first day of school posts on Facebook this week with kids dressed in their new clothes heading off...

Some of my favorite local Emerald Coast Restaurants

Posted 08-14-2018 at 10:20 AM by Bayouliving

The big question at dinnertime -- where do you want to eat? I don't care. Where do you want to eat? You tell me. LOL Everyone goes through that conversation.

Living here for the past 35 years I've seen restaurants come and go (good and bad). Some of the places I like to go to now as a local are: Stewby's in Ft Walton Beach on Racetrack Road. They have great seafood but definitely not a sit down "nice" restaurant. You order at the counter and find a table on your...

Getting good karma.

[QUOTE=Miss Hepburn;52738427]Do we 'get' good karma or do we simply create karma period...good/ bad...is living in duality...
karma just 'is'....like a boomerang...is that good or bad?

I never commented on the word punishment.
Cause and effect...you plant corn, you don't get tomatoes.
You sow deceit ---you don't get roses in return.
No punishment :)...that may be a left over subconscious belief from Judeo-Christian tall tales.

Karma is George...

Getting good karma.

Posted 08-13-2018 at 09:13 AM by diversitylove

[QUOTE=FrancaisDeutsch;52721810]Yes, bad actions have consequences. We don't always believe it until it we see it and feel it with our own eyes. Bad karma can manifest itself through mental distress, too, or things such as financial ruin, disease, etc.

Always strive for a pure heart. Not easy - but if we meditate correctly, over time we will only desire more and more to have a pure heart.
