Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

Tuesday February 28, 2012 and its 44.6 degrees outside heading up to 64. For now the sun the is under the blanket of fog awaiting its turn to come out and shine! Weather word of the day: Fog. Good news is it is spotty fog, here there and not everywhere. Foggy is probably one of the words to describe the children and parents of the Ohio school where the kids were shot.

Yet another school where a kid thought the only way out was to shoot his fellow students. So very sad and senseless. It does not make sense as there is no sense to make of it. I'm sure it will be studied by experts in psychologist and psychiatrist with little to no conclusive findings. From a clinical standpoint it will most likely be the teen was troubled, bullied, dysfunctional with some psychological aliment. He maybe was on some form of prescribed drug to alter his state of mind that was prescribed to help him cope with the world. There always seems to be a defined pattern with these cases.

Once all the smoke clears, the press leaves for the next big story, the kids and school will get back to the new normal as it will never be the same. But will they ever really understand what happened? Will they really care how a teen went from student to troubled student to killer? For knowing the answer to those questions would require learning more than the recent events that lead up to the boy taking that kind of action on his fellow man. It would require asking questions and exploring areas about modern society we don't want to ask, lest we know what the answer maybe. Its seems easier to let this one slip by after the bright lights of the news camera disappear chasing the next horrific story. So sad, so very sad for more than all that are immediately involved but for all of us that are share this world with our fellow man and woman.

Quote of the day from Psalm 119:28 :

"My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word."

Happy Tuesday and help someone troubled, sad, or just lost we are all counting on each other for help.

Wednesday February 29, 2012 a and its 51.7 degrees outside sprinkling its was up to 72 degrees today. Weather word of the day: rain. It is also the day that only comes along one out of every four years. What a special day! If you don't think its special well you have to change your thinking! One day that only comes along once every four years has got to be special. For those born on this day it is really special!

To find the origins of Leap Year you have to travel all the way back to 46 B.C. while Julius Caesar reigned over Rome. That is a long way back. More modern mentionable events on this day was the last episode of M*A*S*H aired in 1983. Just seems like yesterday. As they say time waits for no one and there is a lot of truth to that one.

I can't remember anything special we use to do in school for leap year. No parties, not special decorations, we did have cupcakes for kids that celebrated their birthday on leap year but I can't even remember any of those specifically. What I do remember of this time of the year in school was the anticipation to spring and more outside recesses. In the days I went to school that was pretty important stuff. We did not have fancy sneakers, cell phones, i-pads, computers, clothes that made a statement for us, all we had was a group of good friends, family, teachers that cared, and thoughts of having fun on the school yard at recess. ...and that was some pretty good things to get excited about!

Quote of the day from Vera Nazerian:

    “Today is an ephemeral ghost...

A strange amazing day that comes only once every four years. For the rest of the time it does not "exist."

In mundane terms, it marks a "leap" in time, when the calendar is adjusted to make up for extra seconds accumulated over the preceding three years due to the rotation of the earth. A day of temporal tune up!

But this day holds another secret—it contains one of those truly rare moments of delightful transience and light uncertainty that only exist on the razor edge of things, along a buzzing plane of quantum probability...

    A day of unlocked potential.

Will you or won't you? Should you or shouldn't you?

Use this day to do something daring, extraordinary and unlike yourself. Take a chance and shape a different pattern in your personal cloud of probability!”

Happy Wednesday, Happy Leap Year, Happy to just be here today. So Vera says it best, what will your Leap Day in 2012 be like or better yet, 'For?' Have a great day!

Thursday March 1, 2012 and its 64.4 degrees heading on up to a sunny 80 degrees. Now that's a March first forecast! Weather word of the day: Beautiful! Weather word #2: Fantastic! Weather word #3: Awesome! Weather word #4...well you see the pattern here!

What a great day! Little rain over night no big storms as once predicted. No rain on the way in, just wet roads but they will dry out quickly once the sun comes up and drys them off. The wet roads reminded me of the time we decided to take the fenders off our bikes because it would be cool. We found out the reason why they invented fenders in the first place. They did play an important role when riding the bike in the rain.

We rode in the rain many times but this time without the fenders we were able to make a fashion statement of sorts. We all had a mud drawn line up our backs from the water coming off the tires and onto out backs. Nice! That was until we got home. Mom was not amused.... Dad was not as upset as Mom and I can't be sure but I think under the stern look he was actually smiling!

Quote of the day from Albert Einstein:

"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving"

Happy Thursday and how was Albert so smart and so practical? Pretty good quote for this March 1, 2012! Have a great balanced day!!!!!

Friday March 2, 2012 and its 47.7 degrees outside heading on up to 72 degrees. Yesterday's weather words did not disappoint, in fact it met the expectations of those words and than some. How sweet it was! Today's weather word: Stormy. Now that one could certainly disappoint!

Speaking of disappointing. I can remember one when I was a young Bambino all of 5 years old and a new Super Market opened up in our neighborhood. This was the first for our neighborhood in today's standard Super Market. Prior to this store my mother shopped in the corner stores that were literally on every corner. In fact I remember when they were building this shopping plaza my Grandfather had just retired and use to come up the street and get me and walk me down to the construction site and show me all the trucks and workers and explain what was going on. For a 5 year old that was pretty cool!

When the Super Market finally opened they had a Grand opening Sweepstake where the lucky winner would win a go-gart. Oh man, a go-kart! Every time my parents went there to shop I went right to the isle that had the go-kart high above the dairy isle refrigerator shelves. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen and I just knew it had to have my name on it. I know my parents and grandparents and some aunt's and uncles put in entries for me. I just had to win it, it was a lock. After all I went to the store and watched it being built, my Grandfather spoke to the workers. That go-kart was as good as mine.

Lesson one on life. Never count your chickens before they hatch. Well my go kart never hatched. I did not win. I was devastated! I was Ralph-ie with out the Red Rider. I was Winnie without Tigger! I was Zorro without the 'Z'! But I also leaned as a 5 year old I got over it really quick. I also learned that nothing in life is full proof or a sure thing. The best way to obtain something is to work hard and safe up to get it. Than and only than its a sure thing.

Quote of the day from Charles Darwin:

" A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life"

Happy Friday and Darwin knew more than evolution, much more. You want to spend an hour and not waste it on TV or Internet, take your child, grand child, niece and/or nephew for a walk and show them a construction site, or someone working, or just a walk in the park or around the block. That time will never be wasted and in my case it lasted an entire life time of memories.

Monday March 5, 2012 and its 40.0 degrees heading on up 52 degrees. Sun will peek out this afternoon and the weather word of the day is: Windy!

Was a quiet weekend. Got the lawn cut and made up several more Blue Bird houses for some friends. With gas prices high and rising even higher not really going anywhere that we don't have to. Enough is spent to and from work each day. Even got to repair a Blue Bird house I made last year that the squirrels decided would make a great home for them. Those squirrels chewed the 1 1/2 inch hole to enter the Blue Bird home open enough for them to crawl in and out of. So my new bird houses have a metal protector to stop the squirrels from chewing their way in. The Blue Bird house are very inexpensive to make. They are made out a single cedar fence slat that only cost $2.25 each. The metal is made from a piece of flashing metal I can buy for $0.42 each and can get enough for 4 Blue Bird houses from it. Counting the nails and my free time each house only cost $2.50 each. A cheap way to pass the time and all for the Blue Bird population to grow.

Even with the clouds this morning and the chilly weather I could not help but think of the Song I attached as the song of the day...........

Quote of the day from Williams W. Purkey:

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
    Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”

Happy Monday and William pretty much sums it up. U2's song at the end adds the exclamation mark!

Tuesday March 6, 2012 and its 27.2 degrees outside heading on up to 52 cool degrees. The sun will be shining and that is a good thing. In fact it will be super! Actually that word was already taken today. The political arena took that word today. So today will just be Super Tuesday no matter what your preference of super is.

In fact today's song of the day sums up politics for me and I will leave it at that. You will get it when you hear it. On a positive note it is early March and that reminds me of the days as a kid awaiting the start of fishing season. In PA. trout opened the second Saturday of April and it seemed like it took forever to come. These were the weekends my Uncle use to come over on Sunday's for Dinner and we would watch about the only fishing show on at that time. It was Virgil Ward. Its amazing how far fishing as come since than. He use to fish on a aluminum boat with a gas motor and a new Minn kota trolling motor. Nice! Today Pro Fisherman have the best boats and equipment. Easily their trucks, boats, and equipment push $100,000 to catch fish. Old Virgil was lucky to have $20,000 in his equipment and that included the cameras.

As for me, my father, cousins and uncles, we just fished the bank with old fishing poles and reels. Sometimes we would rent a old wooden boat complete with oars and a can to occasionally let the water out from the boat as yes it did leak. The only fish finder we had was my Dads or Uncles intuition that simply said this look like a good spot or I oared enough lets fish here. Those days had nothing to do with the equipment and had everything to do about fishing and giving the fish a more than sporting chance.

Quote of the day from Herbert Hoover:

"Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers."

Happy Tuesday and maybe just maybe that is why we have the Hoover dam.

Wednesday March 7, 2012 and its 34.6 degrees outside heading up to a high of 63 degrees. Weather word of the day: Clouds. Party at that which means the clouds will be in a variety of shapes and sizes! As they say variety is the spice of life! I can recall living in PA and upstate NY their would be multiple days in a row of nothing but clouds. In fact the cloud appears to be uniformly coating the sky in a vale of cloudiness. No variety just one big gray blob. At least here in the south their is a lot of variety regarding cloud cover or lack there of!

That yellow globe in the sky is much more prevalent here than any other place I have lived. Sure for a couple months of the year it is Africa hot here but the other months are, well, Oh so nice!

Here we are in the middle of the week, hump day, and its all good! My song of the day pretty much sums up the day if not in our sky but in our heart!

Quote of the day: Matthew 6: 19-21

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Happy Wednesday and Matthew certainly spoke from the heart and most times it was Jesus heart he spoke through.

Thursday March 8, 2012 and its a cloudy 50.0 degrees heading on up to 70. Weather word of the day: cloudy! Even with the clouds and potential for sprinkles its still can be a bright sunny day in your heart! Unlike the lyrics of the song of the day! No way!

Speaking of way and no way. I was thinking back to my days in public school, elementary that is. K through 6. We started ever day with a Prayer which went to a moment of silence and than all said proudly the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America flag that set proudly in each room. In face the flag was part of our yearly studies. It was brought to the center of the classroom as the teacher showed and explained what each color was for, Red for the blood that was spilled to create this great country and maintain its independence, white for the peace and purity, blue was for vigilance, perseverance & justice, and all those white stars...50 neatly placed in the blue area. Representing 50 independent and proud states that belonged together in unity and conviction to uphold the beliefs and standards of the United States of America.

They were always powerful lessons our teachers gave us on the flag and its meaning. I will always be grateful to the teachers I had over the years and their dedication and wisdom to teach us our abc's but also civic values. THANKS. So if you do one thing today think about the flag and what it means to you. Hopefully it will give you a feeling of community, pride, and accomplishment. I am always in awe when old glory passes by or waves highly in the air above me and damn proud to be an American!

Quote of the day from James Madison:

"We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind of self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God"

Happy Thursday and where are the James Madison's of today? Where have they all gone?

Friday March 9, 2012 and its a raining 61.9 outside heading on up a high of 61 degrees. Wait back the Franklin tractor up. The high is lower than the current morning temperature.....oh this will be one of those backward temperature days, I got it. Weather word of today: falling.

Speaking of falling, have you ever had one of those close calls with a falling object that cold of really done some damage to you? I have had a few. One in particular I can recall was when I did electrical work as a teenager. Me and my cousin were putting up a new service entrance in a all brick home. Rats! These were the days before the cordless drills. So all the screw that went in to hold up the service entrance cable and meter socket were all done by hand.

The first thing to do was to get a straight line set up where the service entrance cable would be placed. Being the cable is on the outside of the house no one wants a crocked cable on the outside of their home. So up went the ladder, it was a two story home so the top of the service entrance was about 20 feet above the ground.

Up the ladder went my cousin and I was for some odd reason standing under the ladder. He had with him a plumb bob. For those not familiar with that tool I will explain. It is a piece of steel formed in the shape of the old tops we use to spin as kids. One end had a rope ties to it and the other end had a sharp point. The function of a plumb bob was to let it hang straight down and let gravity work. When it settled down from swinging back and forth it showed when a straight line would be. So you would mark along the string to get a nice 'plumb' straight line. Easy!

Well almost was not quite that easy. As I stood under my cousin high above me on the ladder and not paying attention to what he was doing I felt something whiz by my right ear. As I turned and looked down I seen my cousin plumb bob stuck in the ground next to me! YIKES! A inch or two to the left and that plumb bob would of been stuck not in the ground but in my head!

Needless to say I learned a valuable lesson....never stand under a ladder with someone on it and if you must make sure you are paying complete attention to the person on it above you! So that is my falling story of the day and I am 'sticking' to it!

Quote of the day on Jerry Lewis:

"Every man's dream is to be able to sink into the arms of a woman without also falling into her hands."

Happy fun Friday! ...and they said Jerry is just a funny guy!

Monday March 12, 2012 and its 45.2 degrees outside heading up to 70 degrees. Weather word of the day: comfortable. The past weekends weather was oh so nice! Spent most of it outside getting the outdoor spruced up.

Had an old tree that was leaning and actually came to rest on another tree near it. Went down to check it out and the bugs had attacked the tree and destroyed it. It was eaten through like Swiss cheese on a Rubin! So I decided not to get the chain saw out and got my handy dandy trusted bow saw. After all the tree was rotted anyway. Well after 256 back and forth push and pulls on the bow saw it still was not through. So I huffed and I puffed and I kept sawing! What?....you thought I was going to say something else?

Well I finally got through the dead oak and the tree fell. Not over but was tangled in with the tree it was up against. So I shook the tree repeatedly and nothing. So after being sweating and exhausted I left the tree as it stood.

Well Sunday rolled around with a hour less to work with by the way. This time I decided to bring out the chain saw. I also decided to make another raised garden bed in the backyard. So I always line them with fallen trees. But I did not want to use the one I tried to cut down as it was full of bugs that killed it. So I got out the chain saw and headed down the yard to where the tree was left standing. A few pulls of the chain saw, adjusted my ear protection gear and started to cut the tree on the underside where it was leaning. I cut about 3 feet up from the bottom. The cut went clean through and the the piece I cut broke off and the tree was now standing straight up and down against the tree it was tangled with. Drat! Double Drat even! This tree does not want to fall down. So I left it to see if mother nature will cause it to fall on its own.

I than moved my attention and wounded pride over to the spot for the new raised garden bad. I walked my property looking for a fallen tree or two to create the perimeter log for the new garden plot. I was only able to find one that would fit the bill. So I dragged an 11 foot 6 inch diameter log out of the woods to the spot I need it. Let me tell you, I was happy it was pine and not oak. The pine was heavy enough. Plus this was the time my trusty lab decided she wanted to play fetch with the tennis ball. So she was running around me as I was dragging this log out of the woods. To funny!

I landed up falling another tree to get the rest of the perimeter set. All I have to do know is call for a load of garden soil to fill it up. Than decide what crops I want to grow in it. I also got my other garden plot I made last year cleaned up and ready for tilling. I also managed to cut the lawn, hand two more bluebird homes I made around the property and get a bunch of sore mussels today! All in all a great weekend!

Quote of the day from Colin Powell:

"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. "

Happy Monday and why do we tend to forget about the last half of Colin's quote?

Tuesday March 13, 2012 and its a light raining 58.8 degrees heading on up to 73 degrees. This day in history has some celestial significance. On this day in 1781 the planet was discovered that has become the 'butt' of a many of jokes since. That of coarse was is Uranus. Than move the calendar forward to 1930 and the planet with a Disney name character was discovered, that was Pluto!

This planet talk reminds me of the days as kids we would look up at the sky and wonder what was up there. Our generation seen the moon landings so space travel was within the realm of possibility. Of coarse by now we should be jet setting back and forth to the moon and beyond. But that never happened. But as we gazed upon the night sky we could not help to think what was out there. Where does the universe end? How far is a light year, really? Which light we see is a star versus a planet? Why is the sun the center of our galaxy? Of all the times we would star gaze we never did see a UFO or anything that resembled something we could not identify.

What it did do is made us all more attentive in class when our teachers would talk about the universe in our science classes. We could add, subtract, multiply and divide in our math classes, we could relate to history and the countless spelling words we learned along with their associated spelling B's but when it came time to learn about what was above us. Than we really sat back and listened because it was so unknown. We could see it but it was always out of reach so of speak! So today in history when two plants were discovered still caught my eye and imagination on what is really up there.

Quote of the day from Madeleine L'Engle:

“A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.”

Happy Tuesday and what book will you pick up today and read?

Wednesday March 14, 2012 and its 55.9 degrees outside complete with full sun that will drive the high today up to 82 degrees! Oh baby!

Spring seems be be stuck on the on highway ramp as summer has already entered the weather highway doing 82 today! Yes a high of 82 projected today and 84 tomorrow. And I am not stuttering my temperatures. Speaking of stuttering, back in the old neighborhood growing up one of my circle of friends had a real problem with stuttering when he was a single digit age person. That was my first encounter with someone that stuttered and for us it was no big deal. He was a friend and that was that.

The stuttering did not come to light for us until one day when we played some pick up football with kids from a few streets over. This is where the ugliness of kids reared it head. As soon as they heard our friend stutter they made fun of him. We never really gave it a second thought. We knew what he wanted to say and when he was nervous the stuttering only got worse. And this day it was the worse we had ever seen it. So he became quiet during the game and we finished playing, can't even remember who won but I surely knew who lost. The other kids we played lost for making fun of our friend and not getting to know a real cool kid.

By the time he was 10 the stuttering was pretty much gone and to us he was the same kid he was when he stuttered as when he did not. It took some years and maturity to learn the lessons of that day when we learned not everyone thinks and acts like friends do. I was guilty many times as a kid making fun of others, ones that seemed inferior to me or my group of friends. Just important lessons in life and the best teacher of the wrongs regarding making fun of someones attributes is when that fun comes to roost on ones person. That is when it hits home that making fun of someone is not fun, it is not cool, its not even worth doing.

Today last I heard he was a successful business owner. As the weather is picture perfect today so was the ending of his stuttering story!

Quote of the day from John 11: 40.

" Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"

Happy Wednesday and it sure is worth looking when one sees the glory of God!

Thursday March 15, 2012 and its 56.8 half moon lite degrees outside heading up to 84 degrees. Weather word of the day: Spectacular!

Yesterday evening just kicked back along side of my Bonfire and just chilled. Well not literally as I was sitting next to a bonfire. But you know what I mean. Trusty Lab was by my side occasionally jumping up when she heard something like a squirrel or bird. She always on the guard and always ready to nap too! It was just a beautiful night and this evening shall be a repeat performance.

Watch the fire burn reminds me of our own life cycles. Getting the fire started one builds on things that burn quickly and with lots of flame. Like one early childhood, so much to learn and do yet with out the motor skills and mental maturity to do it. Than as the fire builds and starts to catch some smaller branches on fire it burns brightly and some time a bit out of control. As out adolescence days where we run here and there to capture all life has to offer.

Than as the smaller sticks catch one starts to throw on the thicker diameter logs which add longevity and stability to the fire. As ones adult life while completing their education and getting married and raising a family. That fire to burns brightly and sometime a bit out of control as the fire tries to consume all the wood it can as quick as it can. But as the wood consumes the flames calm down and the yellow flame is accented with the stability of the blue flame. Throwing off tremendous heat and comfort.

But after a while that flame recedes into the blue flame and gets ever smaller and smaller. Just like in out life's when our families have grown our careers are nearing their end and life calms down to those that plan and built their nest eggs or in this analogy a wood pile for the next generation. The fire burns to red hot coals that has little flame left but lot of warm soothing heat. And eventually the hot coals cool and turn to dust..... As in life!

So the warm comfort of a bonfire at night can be oh so much more than that!

Quote of the day from Julius Caesar in 44B.C:

"The Ides of March have come."

Happy Thursday and Julius counted his chicken before they hatched as once he said that the prophecy was fulfilled and he was brutally stabbed to death. It was not Hail Caesar! It was Hole-filled Caesar!!! YIKES!

Friday March 16,2012 and its 59.6 degrees outside and even with the clouds and chance for showers it will climb on up to 82 degrees today. Weather word of the day: Above normal!

Normal as they say is all relative. Growing up in central Pennsylvania our average March temperature was 37.4 degrees. It was a month of unpredictable weather. Some days had bright sunshine and could be in the 60's while other days were full of clouds and snow. These were the days our classroom windows were adorned with shamrocks and leprechauns. Ones that were made by the us the students. Green was the color of the month. Everyone was Irish in the month of March.

Those days where the outside temps were in the 50's and low 60's in March allowed us to hit the playground for recess and lunch. March typically meant the asphalt playground we had was uncovered from ice and snow. The uncovered asphalt allowed for hop-scotch to be played again. We did not have swing sets or sliding boards in our elementary school. We did not have cell phones or iPods or iPads. So we had to find things to do with just plain old 'i'I and 'we'. Games like tag, re-leave-o, talking, yelling, running, racing, just burning off energy! But the real treat came at the end of the school day at 3:30PM. When that bell rang it was to the coat room and out the classroom and out the door!! School was out for the day and/or weekend.

Quote of the day from Thomas Paine:

"But where says some is the King of America? I'll tell you Friend, he reigns above, and doth not make havoc of mankind like the Royal Brute of Britain...let it be brought forth placed on the divine law, the word of God; let a crown be placed thereon, by which the world may know, that so far as we approve of monarchy, that in America THE LAW IS KING. "

Happy Friday!!! Thomas knew....he really got it!

Monday March 19, 2012 and its 54.6 degrees outside heading on up to 81 degrees today. Weather word of the day: Fog! Goodness gracious it was thick on the drive in. Glad I brought my fog cutting knife and carved my way in the side roads. Rt 540 was pretty clear thank goodness.

Well another nice weekend weather wise. Got the garden rotor-tilled and fertilized. Got the Italian fruit planted.....Garlic! The asparagus is up and the Swiss Char from last year is up and growing again. I put in another raised garden bed in last weekend and I still have to get the garden soil for it. The lawn got cut at least most of it. All of it did not need to be cut.

I know its not officially spring yet but it sure felt that way this weekend. The trees are popping their leaves and flowers. The birds are busy making their nest and chasing the squirrels away. Funny to watch. I have a number of Blue Bird houses made and up around the property. Last year I had one that a squirrel eventually chewed the opening big enough to let him in. He used it this winter as his home. So the new ones I made this year has metal surrounding the opening so the squirrels can't chew their way in them! So I changed the front on the one the squirrel was using and now the blue birds are back building their nest and low and behold here comes the squirrel. Well he was surprised when two birds came dive bombing his and actually chased him high up a pine tree. I guess you could say he won't be 'occupying' their home anymore!

Quote of the day from Robin Williams:

" Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!" "

Happy Monday and with a name like 'Robin' I think he knows what he is talking about when it comes to spring!

Tuesday March 20, 2012 and its a full light show 63.6 degrees outside calming down to a high of 81 degrees. The light show was lightning of all types and varieties. On the commute in this morning I seen vertical lightning, horizontal lightning, multi-line lightning, and elliptical lightning. What a show! Free of charge! No admission! No cover charge! ...and only a few boomers! Weather word of the day: Lightning!

As a kid I can remember some of the fastest bike riding we ever did was in a thunderstorm! Especially on our summer day trips back from the park we use to play baseball in. The park was about 3 miles from our neighborhood and when the skies would darken we would always want to get that last at bat in and most of that time that meant getting soaked before we got home. The only cover in the park was the trees and we knew that was not the best place to ride out a thunder storm.

On typical days we would take the path home that took us along the river that went through town and bypass the downtown area. On stormy days we would take the path right through town as the some of the downtown stores had awning over the sidewalks that we could stay under as the rain passed. I always remember as a kid one individual who was always downtown selling pencils. This individual appears to have MS and was unable to walk so he sat in a wagon and would push himself around with one leg. He was unable to speak and if someone bought a pencil from him for 2 cents he would just grown in appreciation. That was an image that stayed in my mind to this day. Here was an individual doing what he could to earn his keep by selling pencils without the ability to walk, talk, standup by himself. Somehow I believe there was a spot up in heaven for that person just awaiting his arrival. Pencils not included!

Quote of the day from Albert Einstein:

"There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle."

Happy Tuesday and may we all have the drive and determination and perseverance of the pencil man in our lives!

Wednesday March 21, 2012 and its 60.3 degrees outside heading on up to 77 degrees. This week has been a total blur due to a special project in work that started Monday! The thunder and lightning came a roaring in last evening as I did some computer work to catch up on emails and workday items I cannot keep up with while on this new project!

In fact a belated Happy Spring as it started yesterday and went on by without my notice. Never want to miss the first day of spring. The anticipation of its arrival and the meaning that it brings it just awesome! New beginning and its natures was of completing the recycle process. Where all comes alive again. While nature is hard at work starting a new. It gives us humans a chance to reset and restart our lives! What is that one thing you want to change for the better this spring? Well its time, past time to make that change and be anew with nature! Good luck and make it work....the rest of your life depends on it!

Quote of the day from Michel de Montaigne:

"The great and glorious masterpiece of
man is to know how to live to purpose.
    "

Happy Wednesday and what is your purpose? ...and are you living it?

Thursday March 22, 2012 and its 61.8 degrees outside heading on up to 79 degrees. Chance of showers in the forecast for today again and good doggy its foggy out there this morning. Glad I got that second free cutter set for just $19.99 Plus S&H on the TV a few weeks ago! I was able to cut my way through the fog this morning like a hot knife through butter! Thanks Fog Cutters!!!!!

All kidding aside, the fog was thick in spots and makes for some dangerous driving so be alert, careful, and only you could prevent forest fires! Hey how did smokey the bear get in on this! Well its Thursday and we are a day closer to Friday! Project in work has been full steam ahead and hopefully will wind up phase I today a day earlier than planned! Seems like its two weeks longer than it should be! Drat! Drat!! Ops that just is a simple Double Drat! Sorry broke my Drat etiquette!

Quote of the day from John Muir:

"The power of imagination makes us infinite"

Happy Thursday and John is right on!! Their is no boundaries to our imaginations just ask Einstein, well figuratively, if you could, but we can't....you know what I mean. Have a blessed day!

Friday March 23, 2012 and its 63.2 degrees heading on up to 82 degrees! Our string of 80+ degree days rolls on! Chance of some stormy weather today and through the weekend. Weather words of the day: Rolls on!

The rain will be welcome relief from the Pine Tree Pollen yellow clouds of dusk that have blanked the area! It is really really thick this year, more than I remember in recent years. Coming out of work each day and the car is covered with a blanket of yellow dust. Enough to run the wipers to remove it from the windshield. Trying not to run the washers as that only creates a yellow paste. Once home the driveway, decks, and everything outside is well yellow! Talk about your Mellow Yellow!

A couple more weeks for the yellow dust to run its course. This is probably the biggest surprise for people that move to the area that have not experienced this onslaught of yellow dust! But like anything in life one learns to cope with it. Even our black lab who now has yellow strips on her when she comes in after laying on the deck. And yellow feet after walking around on the grass! So its not 'Yowsers!' its 'Yellowers!' Jumpin jimmanies that's a lot of dust!

Quote of the day Rob Hastings:

"It's the air. The water. The POLLEN!"

Happy Friday <Bless You> <Bless You> ....one more sneeze. <Bless You!> . A true quote from Rob, indeed! Through the yellow dust I wish you clear sailing in all your weekend adventures!

Monday March 26, 2012 and its 59.9 degrees outside heading on up to 75. Nice! Boy we got some good gully washers this weekend! It was like a tropical rain, heavy and plentiful! Glad I got the grass cut on Friday. This week the weather looks a bit more seasonal which is nice. So my weather word of the day is: Nice! Especially since I used it two times previously today.

This past weekend I did nothing, nothing...this was one of those rare weekend that I had nothing planned and actually followed that plan of doing nothing that is. Was a good weekend to recharge life's batteries. Typically for a recharge I like to take long walks and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature around me. Didn't do that. Or I like to make something out of wood. Didn't do that. Than sometimes I like to make and/or fix things around the house. Didn't do that!

What I did mange to do was read scripture and think about what I was reading over the weekend. Sometimes that is the best charging one can do to their life's batteries! One can learn allot about the teachings of Jesus. Things such as humility, servant, worship, charity. All the things our modern world does not seem to have the time nor tolerance for. We are from the time when if your not first your last. It your not the smartest your have a diminished personal value. If you not rich your not important. If your not a star your dull and without luster.

So for a weekend of doing nothing I sure learned allot about life. For that I am thankful to the Lord our God!

Quote of the day from Luke 6: 20.

"Then he looked up at his disciples and said: 'Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."

    Happy Monday.
