What "MalaMan" means, after all?
MalaMan was a kind of joke that some people in Northeastern Brazil used in order to make fun of some other people, calling them "MalaMan" as a reference to superheroes like "Spider-Man", or "SuperMan". The real point after all was to call someone a "mala".
In this specific context, what "mala" means in Brazilian Portuguese? It's very hard to explain in English what "mala" means in this specific context, but "street-smart" could be considered a good approximation.
So, calling someone a "MalaMan" in Brazil a few years ago was just a way of calling this person a "mala", that means something like "someone who is street-smart", but not exactly that.
