Bought Land with Ties to a Crazy Crime

For no particular reason, I researched the history of Harrington and our plot of land, in particular.
As it turns out, 3-4 families owned most of the land in Harrington back in the early to late 1800's. It was a very close knit seafaring community (and still is).
In the late 1800's, Harrington resident Laura Nash often accompanied her husband Captain Charles Nash at sea. It was kind of an unusual arrangement for the time.
In July of 1896, the Charles and Laura Nash set out on their final voyage, a mundane lumber run from Boston to South America.
- Both were murdered at sea, hacked to death with an ax in the middle of the night. As was one other crew member.

- There were only about a dozen people on the ship. The assailant was one of them but no one knew who it was.

- The captain-less ship took about a week to meander back to Boston. It was probably a little tense on board.
- The story inspired the best selling book "The After House."
I wrote about it in detail here.
Have you ever found out that a place you lived at was tied to a creepy crime?

That is a very interesting! I haven’t found any creepy crime past in the home in which I currently reside. As a past Investigator for a state Medical Examiner, I can tell you that you can get some awesome bargains when purchasing a house in which a homicide, suicide or even a natural dead has occurred. I guess the past tragedy just freaks people out.
I’m always looking for such a property. Just saying.Posted 06-08-2020 at 07:14 AM by HyperLinkX
