Plan to get off of Foreign Oil

Posted 12-29-2008 at 02:07 PM by Allen L Beckett

Here is a Plan to get off of Foreign Oil, as in all plans there are things that might not work, However with a plan we have something to work with.

1. Give a Multi-Billion Dollar tax credit to fast track more hybrid cars, 50MPG + (affecting Supply) 2. Give a Multi-Billion Dollar Tax credit for buying hybrid / 50+ MPG Cars (affecting Demand) 3. Cut red tape for the needed permit processes for (1)
4. Multi Billion Tax Credit to Insulate 5 Million Homes, per Year 5. Require some, or all, new homes to be constructed with 2" x 6" framing (increase insulation/ R factor by 50%) 6. Build 100 nuclear plants
7. Fast track Yucca Mountain (nuclear waste storage) 8. Restart reprocessing of nuclear waste (cuts nuclear waste by 70%) 9. Have all new gov't cars be hybrids / 50 MPG +
10. Allow consumers to sell solar power BACK to the grid. 11. Rebuild / new natural gas lines to Alaska. 12. Switch some cars to natural gas; since we'd be using nuclear energy to create our electricity
13. Paint as many school, county, & other civic rooftops white - in the west & south - to reflect heat & save energy. 14. STOP all new building of coal plants; if possible start tearing some down. 15. Explore using hybrid diesel cars - the possible best alternative
16. Require that when homes are sold, all windows be converted to double pane, as well as upgrade all insulation; owner & buyer can split costs 50 / 50. 17. Push more solar, from 1/10th 1%, to 5% of our energy supply. 18. More wind power! 10x as efficient as solar. 19. Drill and refine 80% of the oil that we use here in the states. It will also create more jobs.

Hi Allen, interesting article. I'm for hybrids, wind, solar, white rooftops, net metering in favor of the consumer, 2X6 walls and more insulation. I am not for nuclear power plants and do not believe there is such a thing as clean coal. I think that REQUIRING windows and insulation on sold homes is good in theory but how do you control the greedy contractors that would be involved? I'm for cutting the red tape but think more red tape would get in the way. I think T. Boone Pickens has a few good ideas up his sleeve. You have my direct e-mail and I have a video on the economy I think you will enjoy and I'd like to send it to your DIRECT e-mail as I don't think it will go through the city-data system. If you want it, send me an e-mail so I can send it to you.

Two ways to get the monies to fund your good ideas to get off the oil pipeline, One get out of Iraq and spend that money towards wind power and hybrids ect. and 2, round up and deport all ILLEGAL aliens, thereby not having to pay welfare, education, child support ect for those not in this country legally anyway. Can you imagine how much money these 2 ways would free up for reasonable and just causes?
