Lessons on the Ranch

Well, this was an interesting lesson!
Got back home to the ranch after a weekend at belly dancing workshops, things that I usually do with my contacts in.
Got to my gate with my Maglight and I couldn't read the combination numbers to tell which was which to save my life. Contacts are great for distance vision but with small things, especially in the dark or dim light, even under the direct glare of a Maglight, things can be impossible to read.
I was able to do a field removal of one lens so I could read the numbers.......and then drive the rest of the way in on my land on one lens. The left one has always been the difficult one to put in and take out.
In the short run, even though I don't think I will be wearing my lenses in the near future (tend to use them only for dance and stage), the answer is to put a key lock in the links of locks. So if I can't do the combinations, I have a key back up.
Soon, however, I may have a gate opener in place and that may negate the locks all together.
