Sixth Extinction

Posted 05-26-2016 at 09:13 AM by Lpavitram

I am not a pessimist but sometimes feel that technology is running at a faster pace than humans can cope with it. I see overwhelming challenges that humanity is facing today.

Look at environmental degradation and climate changes that is taking at such a large scale...it is really scary. This is the hottest summer since I came to US. Something is seriously wrong with the weather patterns.

People are opting for freedom in a large numbers and preference for co existence and compromise is very low. There is very low tolerance everywhere so relationships are failing at an alarming pace. There is a huge impact because of this. Internet is creating much more problems because it is promoting alternate lifestyles which are not healthy.

And there are weapons of mass destruction in a lot of countries with dictators. Add to this the reckless profit taking of corporations that is killing the basic human spirit and turning human beings into commodities. 50 percent of species perished because of destruction of forests and other habitats. This is all very disturbing.

So the degradation is not just in one direction but in encompasses every facet of human life...it is in all directions indicating the possibility of a much greater catastrophe. The planet cannot be sustained in such a fashion. Something will happen to bring about a correction I suppose.

We cannot control or change the events but we should strive to find a place on this earth where we can live in peace.

The problems are at the core and very deep. Nobody has energy to go to the core and root out the issues. Everybody wants a quick fix and quick fix is no fix. And again when quick fix comes off...they need bigger fix...but again they will find some other quick fix and so on and so forth.

The degradation is not in the thought process but thought itself. Thought flourishes on comparison and desire. It creates an ego and identity. It creates competition. This has to end. Thought instead of being a master has to become a tool to learn skills and live life.

It is a thought (demon) haunted world.
