Advantages of being chunky rather than skinny

Posted 01-02-2015 at 05:43 AM by Ericthebean

I am going to say you will find the nicest of kin in all shapes and sizes, but I think in our society the nice people who do not conform to a "celebrity" image are sadly under appreciated. That's what this blogpost is about correcting.

Often times growing up, I found the most approachable people who I could vent to when I needed someone to talk to were the chunky colleagues

1) they were often more patient, more understanding, less perfectionist, and hence I could be my true self around them

2) they were often the ones when you went to a social function and everyone ran off, and there would be those special someones who stayed behind "like those 3 spiders Joy, Arania, Nelly at the end of "Charlotte's Web"....the ones that resembled Charlotte.... Those were more often than not the chunky ones

3) as go-to people, as the ones people spilled their innermost secrets to, it was often the chunky ones who helped build team spirit in groups and also healed the needy, one by one. I will not forget any of these people at every K-12 grade, in all my college years, and in career life. I remember all of them and I am so happy God made these people. I actually remember their names and my interactions with each and every one of them. As they gave me their time of day, my memory of them in return is everlasting.

And you know, because the chunky ones are used to not basing their lives around what other people think, they are often stronger for this and more beautiful for this. And on a cold winter's night, when everyone cuddles up in sweats and jackets, then the most beautiful people of all, both inside and outside, are the chunky ones.

I really like your appreciation of "the chunky ones." Having been one much of my life, I agree with many of the things you say. What I disagree with is that we chunky ones don't base our lives around what other people think. I certainly don't any more, but during some of my younger years, I very much DID care what others thought.

Well what we all can do is look out for all those people who are dealing with all those pressures and lift them up by giving them our open ears. Reality is happiness comes from within.

I can already tell you I know an abundant number of unhappy individuals...some of the most anxious stressed out and unpleasant to be around....that are on "no carb" diets and do 7 miles a day eliptical. They aren't particularly happier

Than say a bunch of people who enjoy their 5 senses, love to relax, stick together and kindle under a warm fireplace eating delicious smores and Apple cider

I'll take the latter. Tell these people happiness is internal. And no matter how much eliptical you do or no calorie whatever, it sadly enough didn't change the survival outcome for any person on that AirAsia plane that went down to the bottom of the sea. The perfectly fit individuals suffered the same awful toll as those who had spent the last days of their lives eating chocolate cake.

The best guarantee of doing everything right...is finding the ability to laugh and smile yesterday, today, and tomorrow. This comes from unconditional love and support and random acts of kindness. It doesn't come from how much you weigh...except when we let it affect our happiness what some other faulty people think. The ones who mind don't have to matter because the ones that matter don't mind. If anything, maybe the social media should consider that the depression they often times inflict on chunky people is doing nothing more than adding to the world's percent of depressed individuals. And that depression is the health risk that trumps all others.
