Damascus, PA across from Callicoon, NY, Honedale, PA?

Posted 12-13-2014 at 08:46 AM by Ematarese

I'm probably assuming too much but I was wondering what Damascus and Beach Lake, PA are like?
I mean how different can Damascus, PA be since it 's across from Callicoon which is fairly liberal.

I want to be in Damascus because taxes in Sullivan County, NY are very, very high whereas on the PA side they are practically 1/2 or less!

We want something rural with great views but no flood zones. Nothing on the Delaware river where the waters could rise.

We are an LGBT retired couple and inconspicuous. We know Callicoon fairly well and like it.

But am-I assuming too much? Is it the same because they are close geographically or is it redneck who hate transplants?

Although far from the Delaware River and Callicoon we have heard that Honedale is nice like Callicoon. Is that true?
