Thinking of Relocating

Posted 10-02-2008 at 12:00 PM by Bornbutnotraised

I am seriously thinking about moving to Willow Springs, North Carolina. I heard people talk about this place all the time. So coming back from my vacation i drove through some parts of WS and I liked it. I am seriously thinking about this, but I would like to purchase some land and build me a house. Do anyone have any suggestions. I would appreciate it.:)

Hey there. Willow Springs is very nice and an affordable part of Wake Co. Do you currently live in the Triangle or are you relocating from another area all together?

There are several areas in Wake Co. where land is still affordable enough to build a home but there are a ton of options, particularly depending upon your price. Do you want to build a home with a national builder? a local builder? Finding raw land on which to purchase a home that doesn't already have a builder attached to the property is become increasingly difficult.

Regardless, remember that lenders will only want the land cost to be 20-25% of the total building cost. So if you are building a $300,000 home then you probably shouldn't spend more than $60,000 on land. Also, lenders will typically require 20% down on a land purchase.

Just some quick thoughts. I hope this helps!

If you are selling your house, you might consider using HutHound.com. The site is absolutely free to use, you can post your listing even if you are using a realtor.

Why not post your question(s) in the North Carolina / sub forums for better results and more feedback?
