Lack of Christmas donations verse Society real pressing issues.

Today on the wonderful television, that the world seems to be infatuated with I seen several news channels advocating for the need of Christmas gift donations for children this year. Yes, kids should have presents, I am not the grinch now. But I know that these are not the only gifts the majority of these children are getting. Also there are more urgent needs that people can be donating to like, assisting family's with utility deposit that range in the $300-$400 amount. As humans, every single one of us has necessities- needs that have to be meant!!

Over the years it seems Christmas has fallen from its true meaning. Now a days it is about getting some expensive unneeded item form loved ones. Or a large amount of inexpensive items. Why?? To show they care to prove they are loved? Children don't need a bunch of gifts to show that. Everyday when you smile and you laugh with you child you are giving them what Christmas is supppse to be about. You are giving them love, joy, and happiness. Through out the year when you buy things you are showing you care and love them. Yes, even under privilege children get things throughout the year. It may not be that 40 baby doll they wanted but it is an item they also liked.

My family is under privileged, one year I decided to go to one of the toy donation centers that was available. I am a social person, so I talked to quite a few people in our three hour wait in the cold. The majority of the people there already had gifts at home, they were just coming to get more. I too, already had some gifts for my child, I was coming to get more also.At the time I didn't see it like I do now. I grew these last few years. I realized how I had lost the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is about spending time with those you love and being thankful for it. It is about spending time with people you don't know and uplifting their spirits. Giving your time, energy, and money to really make a difference for others not about buying them gifts that they really don't need or that will not benefit their lifestyle.

In our society the homeless rate is growing and people are living with out electric or water right in your neighborhood. The reason is because the amount to get them turn on is insanely high. At this moment there is a great need for electric deposit donations. There is not any kind of immediate resource for woman attempting to leave a domestic situation. I know because I am attempting to do this. Right now me and my 6 year old are living without electric and water. I need my relationship to be over for my safety and my daughters. I tried to leave a few months ago but because I live off of a fixed income and could not afford to leave my residence and start from scratch I ended up back with him. This time the attack was extremely violent and also involved my child. So I had to leave. Thankfully I have wonderful landlords and a great repro with them they set me up in a beautiful, bigger house paying less money just to fit my income. Not to mention a job offer I can not turn down as soon as I get settled!!

Yes, so far God has blessed me with more then I expected and I am very thankful. Everything is falling in place. But it is hard to stay optimistic when you have few close relations with people who could assist you, every other night you are finding a place to shower you and your child and there is not one organization that can spare 40 bucks towards the deposit. The worse is when we do have to sleep in our new house in the dark. My child is extrmaly scared of the dark epically at this current moment and she is not handling all this well. The need for donations for utility deposits are needed. Every place is waiting on aid. All places have claimed to not have nothing until after the holiday.

Soo while many children open those three extra gifts in the morning, there are children living in a house somewhere, that can not wake up and satisfy their basic needs. Nessecitys like taking a bath, brushing their teeth and eating a healthy breakfast. I know I am not the only one out here that is in this situation. I do know it is for the better. The fact remains where should our donations be fouced on? Where do people as a whole need to focus on??
