So I've noticed the OP hasn't logged in since making this thread.
I was questioning the credibility of this thread when I noticed the OP lives in the most conservative and culturally southern region of a very conservative and culturally southern state, and I'm questioning it even more now. I could understand if she was from Atlanta, Charlotte, or the Raleigh/Durham area to name a few, but there is no way Greenville or anywhere else in Upstate SC has lost it's southerness. The only place in that region that maybe, and this is a huge maybe, losing its southern culture by the day would be Clemson and that is because it is a university town with students and faculty from all over the country and the world.
If the OP is sincere I apologize but I've seen too many threads like these where someone complains where they live isn't to their liking and they ask for recommendations and then don't come back.

I understand, I too love and miss the culture that used to be in the area I live.. and Im sorry that my kids have missed out on what I remember to be best about my childhood... like, sitting on the porch at my grandparents and not being able to see the highway, or neighbors but just the solitude of nature, and the beauty of what God provided for us.. I miss the beauty and the sound of a small stream.. can't hear it now for traffic, and the water not as refreshing.. some of my best memories are waiting on a hot summer day for my grandpa to draw a bucket of the best water from a hand dug well.. my kids no nothing of what this is about. I feel that we have lost in America, the good things in life and that has nothing to do with people from the North.. although they dont always understand our culture... especially my accent..lol.
