Intel Corporation announced it will start building a $300 million research and development facility in Chandler, AZ. The company says that facility will create several hundred well-paying jobs. This is on top of the massive ($5 Billion) construction project well-underway on the Chandler Intel campus. The Fab 42 manufacturing facility will be completed next year, and the company says it will hire 1,000 people for that plant.
That said,*Arizona employers are complaining about a shortage of qualified graduates in the various engineering fields.* Arizona State University's School of Engineering is working to meet the need. School officials are encouraging Arizona students to pursue engineering as a career; recruiting engineering students from Arizona, across the U.S. and abroad; and working with employers to ensure those students will connect with quality jobs upon graduation. Many firms have a high concentration of engineers nearing retirement age and not enough young recruits coming in to replace them.
So, if you are an engineer, or know one, think about AZ in your job search. And of course, the 300 days of sunshine is an extra perk!

I have been considering moving to Phoenix from Boston for the past few years but with the economy on the rise again, it seems like in the near future would be the time to do so. What I am looking to find out is if there is a strong market for construction and development. This is my career base and I would need to find a firm that is in the growth stage. I actually worked for a GC firm that did work at Intel Corporation in the Hudson MA location. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
