California Faux

Im from NJ, born here, live here. I'm done with it. Not necessarily in a bad way. I've just seen it, done it, froze my butt off for 42 years. I've always dreamt of southern California but the cost of living is frightening to say the least. I'm not giving up but lately have been thinking maybe there is somewhere else to have close to the same climate, reasonable cost of living and still be on a coast. Not easy. So I've recently and finally gotten ready for government employment and have applications in Florida and South Carolina. Maybe one of these will be my faux California for a while. Just humidity x squared to ;:^>. Ick. I've even considered applying in Dallas. That's pretty desperate. I've seen way to much Texas with the Air Force but if I'm hired, I figure it's kind of like 1/2 way to California.

Well Sonoma county Ca may have a fed position for me. May find out this week. Never thought of being so north. The job actually pays buku yen but not for Sonoma. It's COL is is so high it's on the brink of space. I'm single with two sons. I thought I'd look for my new girlfriend when I arrive at my new job. In Sonoma I may not even be able to afford a first date. Almost 10 an hour more than Florida but the COL makes the $ almost irrelevant. Beautiful up there though. Perhaps I can make some extra cash sampling wine or photographing mountain lions
