We have been looking for a house in the La Conner Wa area in Shelter Bay which is all on the reservation. I am a little nervous about buying on a reservation. It has a 50 yr lease but they can raise the lease cost every 10yrs. After the 50 yrs, if I still own or a family member and they choose not to renew, nothing we can do. I really like the area but..........? Has anyone ever bought on reservation property and if so what are you thoughts????

My children (24,21 and 20). Grew up with a step dad (my husband)for about 15 yrs now. Their birth dad was in and out of picture with no other kids. He was and still is a loser-owes 60,000. in child support,just thought I would throw that in! Does drugs, drinks no job... lives with his 72 yr old mother.I moved out of state and they all followed me. Then I moved again-out of state and the two youngest moved to. Now my oldest is best freinds with him in a different state (which is fine and probably good) and my youngest is wanting to move there also (which is fine-I guess!). Okay so my point and question. My son was doing drugs and smoking which he quit while living with me once again. He was told he has one month to get back onto his feet. Well it turned into 2. I reminded him almost every other day his time is up and I would help find him a room in someone house his age. He keep coming up with excused why not to move. Strange people was the main one. Well one his last day of the 2 months I told him good luck and let me know how it goes. He was suppose to have interviews with possiable roommates. That was the last I saw of him. Know I find out that I am mean and he is living with his old crack head friends and selling his 700.00 car to move to his dad in another state. I have left messages on his cell phone to call and that I love him and hope he voted!!!! I just am so angry that we (the parents) give sooooooo much to our children to be disrespected and treated so nasty. His older bother is not helping-or his sister. It is like he said she said. I do not want to play. I packed up his stuff in a trash bag and left it out on the porch. Help. What should I do?? I just keep trying to smile and go on with my life but....Is this to much or is it normal within a family or should I call Dr Phil.

No it is not just your family! Mine is the same or I should say was.
I have had a hard ten years with my 32 year old daughter. She was drinking and smoking crack and I have been raising her two girls 10 and 6.
everyone keeps telling me that it is in everyone ones family one way are another.There were a lot of prayers said for her and believe me they really help. My daughter has been drug free for a couple of months now and is going to church.
It was tough but God can help you through it.
Oh and btw I think you are doing what is best for him. You have to let them hit the bottom and be there to pick up the pieces, just turn him over to the Lord and he will take care of it.

my family is the same in away! my hubby (which im fixing to devorce) is living with his grandma too! he is 29!! and acts like a 4 yr old!! we have been seprarted for 10 yrs! my kids r 10 and 8!! we have or was depending how u look at it! for 11 yrs!! i have raised my kids pretty much on my own! when i was younger i did drugs and drank! my daddy was mad to say the least that i did! he tryed everything he knew to get me out! so one day he called the cops and sent me to jail!! i stayed in there for awhile! i sobered up and and never touched again!! and i have been clean for 8 yrs!! it sounds like to me its going to take jail time to straighten him out that and God! and to this day i thank my daddy for putting me there!! even though at the time i hated him for it!! it was for the best!! u will b in my prayers! let me know how things turns out!Posted 11-08-2008 at 07:46 AM by zanie102
