WWGD...HOMELESS Man in SC.....The Homeless...

Posted 02-27-2009 at 03:32 PM by Summering

I don't know why God saw to it that I experienced this but.......he put it before my eyes and I am sad.
Today, there was a sign on cardboard in a car window....it said..."What would God Do?". Just the letters we have all come to know. "WWGD"The cardboard next to it said.."Homeless" I saw no one in the car unless he was sleeping and I didn't want to look, really....The thought is so scary to me.
Yesterday eve, when stopping at a Hardees for a quick dinner bite......there was a man standing looking at the windows poster showing the specials. He had a bike, on that bike was his whole life. By the time we were done, and I looked around to give him a few dollars......he was far off and away.
So now for two days.........I've come home with guilt.
I want to go back and buy these men a lunch........I want to do what I know in my heart was right.
Sometimes on our threads there is a debate on this.........Whether it is good or bad. To encourage ones lack of job or place in this society......
My thoughts are......." there but for the grace of God, am I" Thank you God for not placing me in that position.
We don't know their plight....Perhaps in these times it is a loss of job. Perhaps the person drinks their funds away.....
I think though it is not my place to judge.
It was my place to give......
Give to one of Gods people, for whatever reasons that befell them.
I am sad I missed this opportunity......
Am I more sad for my own heart?
No, I think I am sad for their plight, and distress......
Tonight, I will pray for these two men.
Pray for their salvation in this World that is tumbling around in all directions.
With stock markets crashing, banks failing, and life savings gone in a silent whisper....Who knows what life will throw at our doors.
Next time.......I am off to buy a hamburger and place it in their hand. I won't wait around and ponder, then have a sleepless night....
We need to care for our own people, in good times, and in bad.....
I'm sorry God, I waited and delayed......
WWGD? I have to remember and learn to follow my heart..Don't pause to question that......
Homeless Man, and Man on bike by window.....I pray you find your place in this World. God hold their hands along their way...........

When I was a little girl, my Mom used to take me to the deli to buy a meal and a hot coffee for a homeless man that lived behind the shopping center. We'd bring him food like this on my Mom's payday. We didn't have much either, but we did have a place to live and food on the table (so what if it was macaroni and cheese with a can of tuna and a can of peas mixed in?). I learned a lot from that and I know what it is like to be hungry. I won't give them money, but will provide a meal when I can. The homeless in SC probably have it much better than those in the cold northern states.
