problem i want fixed

Posted 06-21-2009 at 12:59 PM by strawberry-doglover

ok so i have my 2 year old chihuahua and my 4 mounth old mixed breed. and so of course i kind of can't help it but spoil my chihuhua more but i have noticed that he has been food agressive latley. which i don't understand? he always gets more and gets fed first and always gets the last peice but he still is always so angry at the other dog and no i do not plan on getting rid of one i want to fix this problem. and so while i am feeding them i keep them seaprate because no matter what he always starts growling i know that it is because of the other dog cause i can pull food from his mounth and he won't get mad or anything but if i'm feeding my other dog he will steal it from her mouth or even take it before her but she dosen't say anything but if she even turns to look at him while he is eating he imediatly starts growling all over again. also and so my other dog is a girl she is a german shepherd mixed with pit bull so she is pretty big for four mounths but my smaller dog still bullies her and she lets him for some reason? anyways i love them both and just want a solution any ideas on how i can fix this?

I have read several of your blogs about your realationshp and frustrations you have with your curent living conditions.. I am surprised that you don't recognize this as just another representation of the relationship that you have with your family. Think about it. Which dog are you and what would you do you solve the problem.
When you are on your own, you will have do deal with a similar situation for your whole life and need to figure out how to fix it now.

Make a notable difference in their feeding habbits. It seems that the smaller dog, I take it you've had longer? It is aware of your preference to feed it first and give it "pampering" attention and is establishing a hierarchy within the pack.

hmm..do for the first part i would say i'm a bit of both my dogs for one when it comes to family and such i keep my mouth shut when they critiize me but it's only till i can't take it that i say something back which in case my first dog no matter what always says something about everything. so about the pamering situation i know i should fix this but i choose not to because for one i love him a lot and two he is my first dog that i've gotten and i hope to never lose. ok so i know u shouldn't favor one dog over the other but i've had him longer and he goes practactly everywhere with me cause he is so small also he has helped my out in my bad situations. the town i live in has a problem with guys approching girls out on their own but with my dog their they leave me alone. he may be small but as soon as someone approches me that i don't feel ok with he starts to bark or growl which usely helps lead them away from me. he may be small but he is loud which makes people turn to see what the problem is and which people looking it makes the guy run. so yeah i know someone out there will say so don't walk alone as if to fix that problem. that an't gonna work cause we have about 3 dogs one on the way and 6 people live here at this house i still end up having to walk all of them becasue they don't like having to walk in the sun or just walking in general i've tried convinceing them but nope nothing they think that a run in the backyard is enough so at that i'm already feeding them apart but when they are together he just keeps growling at her all over again. i'm trying out a methed that a friend told me so far it's working
