Hi,
If you're planning to leave Michigan to live in North Carolina, I would like to hear from you. My family and I are Michigan refugees that happened to land safely in North Carolina after I secured a teaching position here. We really would like to hear from recently moved ex-Michigan residents as to your past experiences that caused you to leave....and what you're hoping to find/gain in NC.

I, too, am a Michigan refugee -- however, I landed in South Carolina. Reason for leaving? The only job I was able to get in Michigan paid me less than half of what I had been earning 5 years earlier. DH and I love it here and don't ever intend to move back.

My wife is from Michigan (Oxford, Clarkston area) and I'm from Ohio, I'm not a Buckeye! I am a Cubs fan. I've lived all over the United States and we both love Charlotte. I tell everone that the people are as warm and friendly as up north in the small towns that we grew up in yet we get the great weather here. We are in Huntersville area. If anyone is looking to move send me a email, I'm a Realtor, I know all of Charlotte and would love to help. Go Cubs, maybe this year, ha, love them anyway. Kent ssonnefeld@wilkinsonandassociates.com

I am hoping to be a "former" Michigan resident. I have a sister that lives in southwest Charlotte, I was down there in sept of 08. I have to say I fell in love with the area as well as the people. Living in metro Detroit I am used to rude self-centered people and the people I dealt with in the Charlotte area were great!! They treated me like I treat people--like a person. Now I know that there are bad apples everywhere, but the feeling I had while I was there,I can't explain I just knew that I wanted to live there. I must find work before I make the move but I am hoping to be living there by the end of July. I know that I will be making less money, and I am willing to do that for the quality of life that I feel I can have there. I am not going to rip on Detroit, it has enough problems on it's own. I know that the Carolina's have their own issue's, problem's but I still feel like I will much happier there then here in the "D". I am open to suggestions as to what area's to look in to or avoid, for apartment's,townhouse's or condo's. Thanks for help..
