Guest bathroom
After spending about 6 hot hours in California’s summer heat at a baby shower I awoke the next morning with a bit of a headache.
My son, Robert Dean being two and a half understood that mommy was not feeling well and was playing quietly while watching cartoons. It was a pleasant surprise to see him entertaining himself while I lay waiting to rid the start of a migraine. I closed my eyes and heard a small voice whisper “here mommy I have some water for you”. I sat up and gratefully took the small 8 oz bottle and drank it down in one big gulp. I realized after swallowing it it was not very cold. I figured it must have been the bottle I had left on my night stand and thought nothing more of it. I did however think how sweet and thoughtful my little boy was growing up to be.
After lying long enough and feeling the stress of my every day agenda start to wear on me I decided that a hot shower would have to help. On my way to the bathroom I was calling for Robert Dean to join me. I found my son already in the bathroom standing in front of the toilet. I told him it was time to take a bath and his reply “but mommy I have to fill up your water again”. It did not register at first but yes to all I drank lovely toilet water. I had to laugh at myself (not at first) and tell everyone about my little experience. If anything to bring a little laughter into someone’s day.

I remember when one hot summer day, my darlin' young son, took the oppurtunity to refill my bottle of beer out in the back yard.....but he didnt bother to go in to the toilet to do so.
When I took a swig of that salty warm "beer" and my face changed.......who knew those little bandy legs could run so fast and my tow-headed baby boy could squeel and giggle like that!Posted 09-23-2008 at 07:19 AM by elston -

One of the challenges of being a parent, I'm sure, is drawing lines of whether or not to do certain things. Things, like, oh, taking a bottle of unknown water from a child and wondering where he got it from.
I'm sure, by now, you've taught your kid that toilet water is nasty and potentially dangerous. It kind of makes me glad to be single right now.
You can laugh now, but you probably couldn't then.
