Saturday On the (Pittsburgh) Strip

I get it!--I see why Burghers love the Saturday tradition of going to the Strip and doing their shopping!!!
We went down there today to stop in at Penzey's for some decent spices... and of course, we were not disappointed... but then, we also wound up enjoying a leisurely stroll through Penn Macaroni, where we were able to save about $5 on fresh olive oil, freshly pumped into my own bottle... then, into Fortune's Coffee Shop for a few pounds of Highlander grogg, ground Turkish.... and thru the mini mall area, where we viewed several unique items for sale... all in all, a terribly enjoyable experience, except for one thing..... the parking...
I know there's a ton of parking for $5, just alongside the river, but no one wants to make that long walk, so the competition for the few free parking spaces along Smallman Street is fierce... as fierce as trying to beat out a NYC Cabbie for an open meter!!!
I wonder if anyone ever thought about making all parking fre on Saturdays until 5pm, or whether the loss of revenue would overshadow the stress decrease that we'd all enjoy by not having to fight every degenerate in town for that one space.... up there... they're pulling out NOW!!--HURRY, GET IT!!!!!!....
Well, other than the parking fiasco, the whole Strip experience is well worth it for any visitors or locals who have never done it.... just try to take the T and buses if you can, so I have more parking places, ok???
