My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

Some personal details about my life that might be of general interest.

SDObserver (a member of city-data) posted some questions on a thread on the general forums that seemed more appropriate to answer here so this post is an answer to his questions.

Things having to do with my personal life do not always fit in with a thread topic while here, on this blog, I can talk about myself all I want .

I could have sent SDOberser a PM in answer to his questions but given that others on that thread might also have an interest in any answers I might give I figured posting here was a better way of responding more publicly.

What are your favorite restaurants ?
Well...my favorite restaurants are Hometown Buffet and the Soup Plantation. Both give great value for one's money.

During the week for example a person can pay a little less than $6 (including taxes) at Hometown to get all you can eat Salad Bar, Soup Bar, Taco Bar, Desserts, and Drinks. That is an unbelievable deal!

If one wants to include the more normal dinner items the best time to get there is at 3:15 PM (again during the week). By getting there at that time one can pay the lunch price for the full lunch ($9 something) and end up eating all the dinner items they bring out after 3:30 PM. The management does not mind this means of getting a cheaper dinner than would otherwise be the case after 3:30 pm (I asked them).

Sirloin steak, roast beef, and other such items are normally not brought until after 3:30 pm (and not every item every day...it varies).

Soup plantation is a bit more pricey in that one must pay $9 something all the time (if I remember correctly). And their desserts leave something to be desired as they are full of fat free processed food material and sometimes taste aweful as a result (I like real fat in my desserts LOL). But their salads are excellent! Also they don't provide any real meat and potatoes type stuff like Hometown does. The only meat one can get at Soup Plantation without paying extra is some limited chicken bits in salads and meat in the chili. But health wise it's better than Hometown I think.

Generally speaking I don't go out to either one of these restaurants hardly at all since I must watch my dollars still. Mostly I survive by going to the Dollar Store and buying groceries there along with an occasional trip to Food-4-Less and a $1.51 burger at Jack in the Box.

Will you be buying a car ?
Well...I have to earn the money first. While programming over the computer is paying for my basic needs I have not yet broken out into making more than what I need. I hope to do so shortly as I begin to advertise my computer related consulting services more widely.

But even if I had the money...I don't think I would buy a car since I work from home over the computer. Better to rent a car once in a while or even find one of those car sharing services that let's multiple people use the same car at different times of the day. Other than that buses and trolley's are fine not to mention that using public transportation is really a lot of fun for me as I interact with the public much more using such transportation and get to meet a lot of interesting people.

Have you met a girlfriend ?
I am actually married. My wife presently lives in Canada. We are still legally married but seperated due to various issues in our relationship. We've been seperated for years and have communicated on and off during that time but without breaking through into actually being willing to get back to together again. The willingness is there on my part but not on hers at this point in time and there is little I can do about that.

We don't believe in divorce and from my end I will never divorce my wife and get re-married (barring any involvement of her with another man and even then I would probably leave it up to her as to whether to get divorced or not). God hates divorce!

In the eyes of God I am married for life and I am truly content with that. I miss my wife but as I said...there is little I can do about her lack of willingness to communicate with me at this point in time.

How is your work going ?
Good but I can certainly be making more. I am developing a web site to showcase my computer and web development skills and God willing, will shortly be calling on local businesses to generate more business.

It's tough since I discovered what appears to be a bad case of arthritus in my knees (one worse than the other). I had a flare up a couple of months ago and my knees are still not what they were. They may never recover fully. As such I can no longer realistically go out to dig ditches or even do window cleaning very well so I am stuck trying to make a living over the computer. Which I don't mind at all by the way
