A little closer

Kitten age: 7.5 weeks
Days in the house: 2.5 weeks
After half a week of Rogue being around the house all day every day, and a few close encounters! We had some process in the bonding.![OK](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/oglvvd.gif)
Rogue was still as brave and playful as ever, and continued to race over to Shady all the time – making us all jump and panic. One day we were not quick enough to stop her annoying him when he was eating and he swiped her with his paw, but did not claw or hurt her. I think it was just enough for him to say:
‘’Right you, I am boss now stop that’’
which I think is what Rogue needed to begin to learn the chain of command in the house.![Cool](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)
That same evening Rogue was being adventurous again, and ran up to ‘Shadys’ chair where he was – we all jumped for no reason. They sniffed each other, and lay close but not touching. Then Rogue tried to get closer and Shady hissed and ran off in a huff yet again![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
It is important to note that whenever Shady went in a huff we were sure not to let him out the house for a goof 2-3 hours after the huffing had stopped.
Later in the night, when we were all watching TV – Shady came back in the room, and sat on the floor beside were Rogue was playing!! She ran to him, and he sniffed her then backed off… and she ran to him again causing him to rear up, she just rolled on her back and played. Soon he was chasing her, and her him – we are not sure if this was playing, fighting or both but it was defiantly improvement. This went on for a while; with Shady still giving Rogue a few swipes of the paw when she got too much… we actually had to stop it to put Rogue to bed.
Improvement … but a long way to go yet….

This is sooo normal cat behavior! When they play, you might think they were fighting but no blood is drawn. Cats mock-kill each other for fun.

Ahh well that is reassuring then!
They completely irgnored each other last night tho! Typical - slight improvement and then bow! nothing!Posted 05-27-2009 at 01:17 AM by Rogue&Shady-Abs -
It is typical for adult cats to treat kittens with distain.
Sort of like older people and 8 year olds who always ask WHY? They don't have any manners yet and it falls to the adult to teach them. Animals in general are all about picking order. Let the two of them work out their political problems and soon everything will settle down. In some cases, they will never be friends, but mostly, they will. However, be prepared to be left out yourself. Once they create a den they will turn to each other rather than you for affection.Posted 05-29-2009 at 03:44 AM by yukiko11
