My 8 yr. old cat has been vomitting the past 3 days Help US!!!

Posted 05-17-2009 at 12:10 PM by Tia & Booboo Kitties Mom

Hello!!! I have had my cat, boo boo kitty since I found her, going on eight years now. Her mother was a stray that my family took care of. When she had kittens she brought her litter over and boo boo kitty was the only survivor and is the best domesticated wild cat that I have ever raised!!! Extreamly gentle, loving, affectionate, all the goods. It is Sunday May 13, 2009 and boo boo kitty (she owns up to her name by the way) has been throwning up wet food, dry food, grass, you name it since friday. We took her food away :hamd:(not water), but she wants more. She is still hungry, and acts though she is normal, but growing weak for the vomiting. Her spirits are still high, and she is still persisitent in her needy petting (lol). I read that yogurt is good, but what kind:confused:. I am aware that cats are carnevors, and she loves her wet food, its like cat crack for her, but we try not to feed her too much because its costly, and she has the stinkiest litter box in the whole world after wet food. I mean really thee nastiness!!! She is mostly an indoor cat, but she goes out for a lil when she pleases. We do have a dog about 2 years old, Tia, who is in no way a threat to her, unless boo boo kitty messes with her snacks, Tia gets fiesty:mad:! We can't figure it out, but want to wait and try things b4 taking her to the vet because of money, time, and she is fine other than keeping the food down. In the past we have taken her to the vet and it was dismissed as there was nothing wrong...what could it be, what can I do for my loving stinky boo boo kitty?:(

If your cat has been throwing up for 3 days something is wrong and she needs to go to the vet.
Cats throw up on a regular basis particularly if they have hairballs.
If you have recently changed her brand of food suddenly without mixing it with the old food, it can cause vomiting. They don't take well to a change in food brands.
If she is vomiting bits of grass it is because she is self medicating an upset stomach.
If she is drinking a lot of water, it could be a sign of worms or other
    parasites.
She could have ingested poision by capturing a mouse or eating the leaves of a weed that had been sprayed with weed killer.
Throwing up everything could be a sign of an intestinal blockage or other disease such as stomach cancer.
There could be something wrong with her current supply of food. Remember a couple of years ago when a bunch of pets died from bad protein that came from China.
At 8 years your cat is a senior, she may need to be on a food for seniors that is more digestible..
If she has had any sign of wierd behavior like going outside of the cat box, or constantly demanding attention. She is trying to tell you something is wrong.
Cats have high metabolism. If you let her go too long without food, she will die.
Please take her to the vet. If you cannot afford to treat her, at least have her euthanized so she doesn't suffer.
I wish you good luck in helping her. My thoughts are with you.
