I don't get it. Twitter? What is all the rage of it? To me it looks like Texting on Steroids. Makes no sense to me - just one more wedge in our Social Skill Set. You know I'm just now getting used to there being My Space and Facebook - and saddly I have begun to interfacec with Facebook - a bit. I'll draw the line at Twitter - no thanks.
Are our schools now trying to circumvent this new form of Social Interaction? Are the kids being given enough social skills to exist out in the world? Now days it isn't uncommon to have kids spending large chunks of time playing XBox or PS2 online - and the majority of thier friends resting there too, online. What ever happened to playing out side? Kick ball in the street or Kick the Can? That's what we did and we did it all outside! We would stay out as long as we could. Early on it was when the Streetlights came on - that would signify the end of that nights game.
What has happened? Kids bearly play out side anymore. Oh there are a few, but that's it. I worry that todays generation won't have interacted enough face to face to really be successful in the harsh reality that is the real world. It's not just in the city, it happens out here in the Country. Now that's scary.
Well at least those indoor dwellers all have easy access to communication. It might just be all they have left. No face to face contact - everyone works from home.
So what am I doing on Facebook anyways?? I think someone sent an Invite... Gee thanks.. I really need to be wasting more time, not.
