Reflections
As I sit here on this cool July evening enjoying temperatures in the low 60's I watch the Sun slow descend behind the hills. The birds chirps are growing seldom as the sun goes lower on the horizon. The quietness of the country really kicks in now. God it's so beautiful out here and how I wish I lived in the country again. Summer nights are usually when I tend to reflect on life the most. I used to live in the country where I lived without a clock. My days started when I woke up and ended whenever my mind and body were out of energy which some days made mom real tired. I miss the simple life of living in the country and being a kid. It's funny when we're young we want to be older so we can drive and move out and be independent. Then as we grow older we realize that the everyday ritual of paying bills and going to work get old fast. I remember when I was younger and my window faced North and during the summer I could look out on the landscape and gradually meet the stars where I became accustomed to seeing the "Big Dipper" and the Northern Star. Those nights were the ones I slept so well. Windows open, cool air and the sound of Crickets and Bull Frogs.
I now live in town, at least it's the outskirts of town where I have a view of the rolling hills and pastures. Sometimes I forget I'm in town and then I'm reminded by the sound of a siren. I miss the peace and quiet of the country. Someday I'll be back....

Josh,
Great blog. One of the great things of Nostalgia and getting a few years older, is that our minds recreate what we once found comfort and joy in.( a clue to why so many are not based in reality!) I'm being sarcastic of course. I enjoyed this one- keep it up!

We seem to spend our teen years planning to get away from home in the country, and our adult life yearning to go home to the country..I pray you will be able to go home to the country..I did, because I wanted that life for my children, and have never regretted it..Another great post!
