Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Private Victories

Posted 02-10-2024 at 06:39 PM by Albert Finch

"What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him" - (1 Corinthians 2:9).

God wants to work through you in ways that would confound your mind if you saw them in advance. His plans for us are beyond anything we could imagine. He created us to fill an important role in His great plan for the ages; that of revealing Himself to creation through creation.

The weight of the glory God wants to share with us is immense – bigger than we think – which is why we need to prepare ourselves for what is coming. God's presence and power are increasing in the Church. Are we ready?

PRIVATE VICTORIES

Private victories are small acts of obedience known only to God and the ones who obey Him. Like when we're prompted to pray in secret, give in secret, fast in secret – and we say yes. We obey God quietly, and He rewards us openly (Matthew 6:1–21).

These seemingly insignificant acts of submission are like the sand in concrete. One grain of sand might not do much, but a lot of sand mixed with the water of the Spirit creates a foundation that can withstand great weight.

If we haven't obeyed in the small things, we won't obey in the big things (Luke 16:10). Our private failures breed a fear of failure that can cause us to shrink back, not believing God wants to use us or that we could be used.

But again, when we've obeyed God in the little things, we have courage for the big things. That simple principle is how David could tell Saul, "Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them" (1 Samuel 17:36).

All we have to do is listen to God and deal with these things in the secret place, and then our shortcomings don't need to become public failures.

When God prompts you to do something, think about a famous slogan and "Just do it." Pray about the situation He lays on your heart. Give your money to the homeless person. Call your friend or family member. Confront believers who sit in the back pews of the Church to seek God's purpose for their life. Disciple new believers into their Christ identity.

BELIEVE FOR BIG THINGS

The key to seeing great moves of God in your life is obedience. God prompts and you obey – that is the recipe for a strong foundation. As you grow in obedience, staying committed to carrying out His purpose for your life, you will find God using you more and more.

Believe for big things, because God's plans are big. Bigger than you think. Keep going after Him, stay humble, stay obedient, and watch miracles explode around you.
